I don’t know where to begin… Last night will affect me and my family forever. While sleeping in our beds we were robbed.
Let me back up for a second. Four months ago I broke my calcaneous bone ( heel bone) and have still not been able to return to my work ( I work on my feet all night ). AS we inch closer to our wedding day finances have become much more stressful with my lack of working.
Last night as I said we were robbed. As we innocently slept tucked in our beds, people entered our home and proceded to take wallets, purses, attempted to take a cell phone, cigarrettes out of coat pockets ( reallly?) beer out of our garage fridge, our smart TV, over 100 blue ray movies, over 100 of my sons ( age 9) video games, our XBOX360, and yet still our truck! But even more importantly they stole my son’s securit. Something I can’t replace or get back. They forced my son into feeling violated, unsafe, and adult feelings, things no child should be foreced or expected to experience. I grew up in this neighborhood never locking our door. HAve always felt safe and at home. I am only hoping my son will soon feel this way again..
We truly are devasted but feel blessed for our health and safety that we still have. Picking up the pieces I find myself lost, anxious, and without direction. I am truly praying that God is watching over us and will help us through this difficult time.
Please Bees… this could happen to you and I want to stay..protect yourself and your families. Lock doors, get a dog, whatever!! Take precautions!

Oh I’m so so sorry. My moms home was robbed too years ago when I stilled lived there, they got away with money, jewelry given to my siblings and I when we were babies, video games ect… I had just run out to the store and felt immense guilt wondering if we would have lost what we did if I was home. Then my sister reminded me that everything happens for a reason, and who knows what could have happened if I was still there.
I tell you this because, the material things can be replaced. Your sons sense of security WILL return but it will take time. Just be forever grateful that nothing grave happened to you or your family-it could have been much worse. God was very much watching over you!

The door was unlocked?? I am so sorry you are going through this! I honestly can’t help but wonder if it was someone you know who knew the door wouldn’t be locked as sad as that is to say. On the other hand be SO grateful that they didn’t hurt you. They could have killed you or done God knows what but thank God you are okay. I’m guessing you didn’t hear anything either? I’d be grateful for that as well because if you had woken up, they could have been armed. I really hope you are able to find peace in your home soon. Get a security system, when I get a house I will definitely make sure I have one.

THank you for your concern.. I am only hoping to recover the vehcile stolen.., the rest will be replaced.
I am sorry this happened to you as well.. such a sad and scary thing to have your sense of security ripped from you… I know time will heal us all and we are moving towards this.. thank you for sharing your experience.
Yes the door was unclocked… I happen to be up till 230 in the morning working on homework. When I went to bed I dismissed since it was below zero outside and already so late. We are incredilbly thankful that we werent physically harmed. I really don’t think that it was someone that knew us as they were other cars ransaked and footprints to other houses and such. Either way it doesn’t change anything. We have no direction but forward to move. We are really wanting to either get a watch dog or invest in security measures. Such a rough time.

@LBalazi: below zero out?? wow! I’d expect a robbery in those conditions about as much as I’d expect one in a hurricane. I’m glad you don’t think it was someone who you know, I’d be devastated to find that out. I just know it happens fairly frequently. Definitely get an alarm, I think it will help put you at ease. & dogs are nice too if they bark at the door. Mine doesn’t bark, she’ll just go stare at it if she hears noise lol I’m so sorry about all of it, I really hope you feel safer once you get a security system/dog
