So the wedding and reception are about 15-20 mins apart. The beach is about 20 mins away also. So I was thinking instead of blocking rooms downtown Wilmington…I would block them at the beach. I mean, wouldn’t it be better not to mention more fun for people to have easy access to the beach. Hopefully, the hotels will be within walking distance of the beach so people can walk and site see. Since I’m doing a cocktailish reception it will be over in 3 hours allowing us to go out and have fun in downtown, boatrides or tours. What do you guys think? I have to make a agenda I guess or a list of things to do. I want our family to have a good time while they are in town and site see! Thoughts??! Thanks ladies!

For a destination wedding, I’d say to make sure you book rooms someplace affordable (when I hear beach, I think ka-ching!) in walking distance of restaurants and attractions for guests who choose not to rent cars. I chose my wedding hotel because it’s right next door to a restaurant/bar where guests can have breakfast or a late-night snack or go for a nightcap without needing a designated driver.
My friend blocked rooms for her destination wedding at a beach resort that charged $298 and up per room. I was in the bridal party and could no way afford to stay there. I and many other guests found our own more modest accomodations rather than stay in the hotel she chose. If you want people to go with your chosen hotel, be sure it doesn’t cost a fortune.
