I would look into getting the dress used. There are a lot of good used sites out there. You mentioned preownedweddingdresses.com, but there is also oncewed.com (where I got my dress), recycledbride.com, ebay.com, and craigslist.com (be careful on this one because its not just for selling wedding gowns). I bought my dress used at oncewed.com and had a really good experience. Just make sure you do your research and ask the right questions to make sure the seller is good and the dress arrives with no surprises.

Another option is http://www.bestbridalprices.com/   My cousin got her bm’s dresses there and was very happy.  It is not a knock off sight, so it it  not as cheap as a knock off, but cheaper than buying a designer dress new from a bridal boutique.

My mother-in-law got married at the end of August, and they (we – mygift was planning!) did everything on a really tight budget. She got a gorgeous dress from an eBay seller. All she had to do was submit her measurements and eight weeks later she had her dress! It came crumpled up but it was really lovely and exactly what she wanted, and all for £220ish including petticoats.

This is her dress, and the seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1310-wedding-dresses-tea-length-below-knees-1950s-1960s-with-polka-dot-tulle-50s-/280793390259?pt=UK_Wedding_Dresses&hash=item4160971cb3

It looked exactly like that and was lovely quality including boning all the way round inside and a built in bra.

I hope you find what you’re looking for!
