Hey bees! Need some help here. Last time DH bought a suit, it was when he was deployed to Iraq over 10 years ago. Needless to say, he’s out grown that suit, both literally and figuratively.
Do you guys have any advice on where to go? The only place I know of is Mens Warehouse. Has anyone had any luck ordering a “custom” suit online by punching in measurements? I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere, so shopping is basically nonexistent. I do have to go to Denver in a few weeks, so hoping to have some luck there!
My Brother-In-Law got the sale of the century by walking into a Men’s Warehouse and buying a suit that had been custom made for someone else, but never claimed. I doubt we’ll get that lucky. DH is 6’6″ and about 260lbs, so he can be tricky to shop for.
I’d like to stay under $600 and would LOVE to get 2 suits, shirts, ties, shoes, etc. for him. I’m not entirely sure if that’s a reasonable budget or not. The suit is not for a particular special occassion, just for church on Sundays, a cruise we’re going on, and whenever he has the random need for a suit.
Any advice you could send my way, I would so appreciate it!

I DO NOT recommend Indochino. I have a thread about our experience with them on here.

Actually, my brothers and fiancee do Macy’s! And that is who we are going with for our wedding suits. They have great quality suits for all budgets!

Honestly my dh got his suit at JCPenny…it fit him right off the rack, lucky dog. It was on sale, too…plus coupons. Worth a try!

The most important thing if he buys an off the rack suit, is to get it altered to fit him properly. A less expensive suit, properly fittted, will look ten times better than an expensive suit that doesn’t fit.
Check online before you go to Denver, or even now. You can always buy something at a good sale price, and pick it up at the store in Denver. He can try it on and see if he likes it,enough to have it altered. If not, just return it.

My fiancé has a JCPenny 3 piece suit that I think is very nice.
When my future-MIL’s mother (fiance’s Grandma) died Future Mother-In-Law was 3 hours away arranging for the funeral and I offered to help her husband buy a new suit for the funeral (he wanted to wear something several sizes too small and generations out of date and Future Mother-In-Law was adamant he look better for her mom’s funeral but she wasn’t able to be there to take him shopping). I took him to JCP and we were able to get him a nice suit on short notice. There was no time for alterations before the funeral, so I also bought hem tape and had him looking presentable and Future Mother-In-Law was so pleased.
