My fiance and I have decided we are going to elope! The only thing we have to decide is well EVERYTHING! He wants to elope in Charlottesvile, VA next Saturday, which is only an hour or so from where we live.
Some ideas I have like:
1. NYC – I have never been there and it’s a dream of mine to go.
2. DC – full of places
3. Richmond, VA – Where we live
4. California – Where we are from
5. Any place romantic!
I need ideas! If you were going to runaway and get married (or if you did). Where would you suggest?

@harperlynn: savannah ga would be my dream spot (or st.simons) basically anything on the georgian coast is romantic and beachy and off the ebaten path

Savannah, GA or St. Augustine, FL woud be my top choices.

Georgia is definitely out of the picture. Fiance has a personal dislike for it. But FL sounds good!
Any other ideas? I want it to be a new experience that is special to the both of us!

- Wedding: August 2013 - Rocky Mountains USA
Redwoods or Great Sequoia NP in CA! So epic and beautiful. The pictures would be amazing.

go further than an hour away! You will be saving so much by eloping- make it completely memorable!
NYC is gross right now because of the snow & bitter cold weather! If you can wait till the spring it is lovely and off beat romantic.
Cali is beautiful this time of year.

@lolot Your right that would be so amazing!
@sparklebee11 Oh I didn’t even think about the snow!! It’s probably going to be gross for awhile! I will have to ask Fiance if he wants to wait!
Does anyone know anything about getting married on boats? (you know Jim & Pam style from the office)

Since it’s next week, I’d go someplace warm. How about Las Vegas. Wait…before you shoot the idea down immediately, take a look at this http://www.sceniclasvegasweddings.com/valley-of-fire-wedding-and-photography-packages The Valley of Fire looks gorgeous!! They also have other places like the Grand Canyon http://www.sceniclasvegasweddings.com/
I would be wary of using thier photographer if pictures are really important to you. We had a wedding in VA but got legally married in Vegas (by Elvis in front of the Vegas sign) and the photography came with the package. She ended up messing up the photos and we had to get redressed the next night for a reshoot. Regardless of where you get married, if photos are important get a separate photographer.

@harperlynn: a friend of mine eloped in a beach ceremony at Virginia beach if you’re beach people and want to stay close. I’d think Williamsburg would have some packages.
florida has tons of options if you want to travel. The gulf shores, st Augustine, Orlando, Miami, the keys, Tampa
cali would be nice San Francisco, San Jose….lots of options.
Can you leave the country? Almost all the caribbean resorts offer wedding packages

We’re in Northern VA and doing a planned elopement to the Eastern Shore – both Maryland and Virginia have great B&Bs on the Eastern Shore and a lot of them offer ‘elopement packages’.

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
I’d either go south and warm (Savannah, Charleston) or way north and snowy (Vermont, Maine). Since I’m a winter person, snow would be my #1 choice.

My Fiance and I are eloping in Iceland! http://www.hotelbudir.is/
If we hadn’t been so set on going to Iceland we would have gone here http://www.cavebinn.com/our-inn.php

My husband and I eloped in our favorite date spot (the summet of a hike). The best part about it is, now we go back every year and relive the happiest day of our life. If you pick somewhere you have the ability to revisit, it will make for some fun anniversary trips in the future.

That is so great! Exactly the sort of thing we want to do 🙂
We are renting out a cabin for our elopement, then will backpack for our honeymoon. That way, every year on our anniversary, we can do the same thing, get the same posed pics, and relive it!

A friend of mine eloped in the San Francisco court house and the pictures were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I’m sure you can google “san francisco elopement photos” and a whole mess of professional pics will pop up.. But the court house there is amazing.. and she wore a simple full length dress and he wore a suit.. and they took such cute pictures afterwards on those cable cars and stuff..
