I got such an amazing deal on my wedding dress ($99, marked down from $1,000) that I decided the budget could handle a second, shorter dress for the reception so A) I wouldn’t ruin the wedding dress of my dreams with food, alcohol, and dancing and B) I could actually let loose and dance w/o getting too hot in my long dress. I purchased the Jcrew Sophia dress (short) in ivory for the reception and after party. The sale section on Jcrew.com has adorable, shorter dresses that you can get for cheap – in shades of white or color, depending on your desire!

Honestly, I loved my dress so much after it arrived, I decided I wanted to wear it as long as I possibly could (also, I blew my whole budget on the one dress, so a second was no longer an option).  But IF you want a second dress, I think you should choose something very different from your wedding dress to ‘mix it up’ a little!

Try looking at bridesmaid dresses in ivory or white. My favorites are Melissa Sweet and Lela Rose. They make beautiful. short, fun and flirty dresses.
