I see posts all over etsy for decorated bird cage wedding card holders. It is mostly the same 3-4 metal bird cages that are just decorated differently by different artists. Clearly they are getting their supplies from the same couple stores, but I can’t find find them anywhere! I just want the basic metal frame that I can then decorate myself. Have you guys seen these any where? I’ve looked online at Michaels, Lowes, Home Depot, Pier 1, Pottery Barn, Macys, Target and Kohls. I haven’t gone to the stores in person yet but I hate to waste a day looking if all of their websites say they don’t have any.
I’m about out of ideas, help!

I’ve seen them in store at Joannes, Michaels, and Walmart. I ended up buying mine at walmart because I found one in the clearance bin with chipped paint for $6. But I was painting mine anyway, so I didn’t care. The paint on the one I had was glossy, so I hit it with a wire brush first then some finer sand paper. I sprayed it with a rustoleum bronze-y color and it came out great. I added some flowers and ribbon.. way better than the ones I saw on etsy, and it only cost me like $15!

I also bought mine from Walmart– It was normally $15, and I spied it on the sale rack for $8.00, so I grabbed it up!!!
I’ll worry about the decorating later; I have 8 months left!

Check your local craigslist:

They also have them at Hobby Lobby for 19.99, but with a 40% off coupon, it’s not too shabby!

Second craigslist. Look in the pets section, or the freebies. You’ll have to hose it out real good (and you’ll probably want to bleach it), but you might be able to get one for a steal then just spray paint it whatever color you want.

Ross. I’m using them for centerpieces and found all of them there over time. You can find them in lots of different sizes and colors. They’re pretty easy to paint over too. You could also try save-on-crafts.com

Try Gordman’s, if you have one of those.

Thanks for everyone who suggested save-on-crafts.com! I have never bought anything from there before but they had some great deals on bird cages! Here’s what I bought:
The exact same cage (pre-decorated) as this one on etsy:
But I got 2 from save on crafts for $25 (well $37 after shipping) instead of only 1 on etsy for $62!
Now I just need to find a use for the second cage… either that or sell it! And I’m kind of excited to buy a not yet decorated or painted cage so I can personalize it!
The hive comes through yet again – thanks girls!

You can decorate the second cage and use it on the bar or on the cake table.
