My Boyfriend or Best Friend and I have been looking for a particular setting to set our Harro Gem Moissainte into, however the prices seem to be much steeper than I expected. For a setting like the ring below I’m getting quotes anywhere from $1500-1900 and from the break down $500-$650 of it is coming from the two side stones (0.07ct each). The band is also very thin, my guess would be about 1mm give or take.
My bf has no issues with the pricing but I just feel like its way too much for what it is, concerning I dont care for the stones to be diamonds at all, its just MUCH easier to find a 0.07ct marquis diamond than moissanite.
So my question is does anyone know if any company that can and will custom just teeny tiny moissaintes like a marquis (moissaniteco does not unfortunately), I know its a long shot.

. If you are not set on the setting here is a similar one.

Have you contacted David Klass for a price quote.? His prices are good.

Look up JYB Jewels on Etsy. It sounds like they do custom cuts.

id just go with diamonds for the marquise side stones, It will be so much easier! And custom cutting moissanite isn’t going to be cheap, I imagine it wont be much of a price difference for diamonds. Also, if your looking for a great priced custom setting, I highly recommend EJCOLLECTIONS on Etsy. He custom made my wedding set and set my harro gem for an extremely reasonable price! His quotes were by far the lowest I could find, and he’s an absolute dream to work with. I’m sure he could source the marquise diamonds for you as well. Can’t hurt to request a price quote, he literally answers within minutes lol it’s crazy.

$1500-2000 seems WAY high to me for that setting. Contact Etsy sellers, show them the pic and ask for qotes to do the semi mount. I bet you’ll get a lot of $500 quotes to make it. And you’ll probably want more than a 1mm band, that will be VERY thin (just an FYI )

Jen from jhollywood designs has her own line of moissanite, she custom cuts tiny stones all the time for settings

briellar : I absolutely fell in love with the ring so I don’t think I’d deviate, but thank you for the suggestion !
bellabee16 : I think you’re right about the custom moissanite haha
Thank you ladies! I contacted almost everyone you suggested and hopefully one of them works out *fingers crossed*

pingpongpanda : Try Juliab jewelry on Etsy.

I’ve always heard that you should stick to diamond accent stones because they are prone to falling out and it will be difficult to have a regular jeweler match a moisssanite.
That said I thought Harros were basically sold in bulk and each reseller cut their own. JL White Gemstones does amazing gemstone cutting work so they might do a moissanite for you.

That’s ridiculously high for that setting. Here is one with the center stone IN it for way less. Also the shank on that ring is a little too thin. It will warp within the year.

pingpongpanda : I definitely second contacting David Klass. His prices are great, his rings are amazing and of great quality too! Plus, if you have a budget in mind, you can let him know and he tries his best to either meet or be close to that budget. He is an excellent jeweler!!

James Allen also sells a similar (and sturdier) version of that setting for $940.

pingpongpanda : I agree with PPs that David Klass would be the way to go. He would do diamond sidestones which are easier for practically every jeweler to get. His prices are amazing but with the best craftsmanship. Second would be to contact Jen from JHollywood and see if she can source the side stones for you and just send them with your center stone to David because I doubt anyone will have a lower price for the actual setting. I will be having a 3 stone ring made (moissy center, London blue topaz trillion sides) and I’ll be sending all 3 of the stones to David. Technically, I could’ve just sourced the moissy center and let him do the topazes, but I got a great deal on them and I really wanted to see them before having them set. You have options, but I doubt small moissy stones would cost much less than diamonds of the same size.
