Do you have a wholesale flower or craft district near you?  I was just at the one in Los Angeles this past weekend and pretty much every shop had them.. I think they were about $2.50 a piece but I wasn’t paying attention..

I haven’t seen a better price yet but I’ll keep my eye out for you.  The “weird holes” are vents so that the smoke/heat can escape.  I saw someone try to use ones without a vent and the top half of the globe was black from smoke in about 10 minutes.  You really don’t notice the holes when they’re hanging though.
