So I think I’ve finally found the answer to my dress dilema- have a dress custom made. It seems so obvious but I’m a little bit worried about it looking “homemade”. I have considered various sites online such as mybigfatbeautifulwedding.com and a seller on etsy with a shop named Fairytale weddings and I am seriously considering both but it’s a bit nerve racking to leave the fate of your wedding gown in someone elses hands!
Does anyone have any suggestions as for other reputable sites that make quality custom made gowns? My budget is around $1200-$1500 and I’m trying to avoid going the China route.
Also how would i go about finding someone locally? Like would i google seamstress or dressmaker? I’ve tried both and get a lot of small alterations places or tailors but no real dress makers.
ANy advice is appreciated!

Have you looked into Etsy? That would be the first place I’d go

I haveheard good things baout CiCi Bridal and FairyTaleWeddings which are both through ETSY. I am going to order my custom dress in a couple of months from Cici! It is nerve wracking for sure but hopefully in the end it’s worth it!

I tried to get in touch with mybigfatbeautifulwedding.com but I got a weird vibe from them.
She didn’t carry some basic higher-end materials and she wouldn’t send me any fabric samples – which seems weird when she is a custom dress maker.
Also she mentioned that she was making a dress out of a fabric similar to what I wanted and would “have pics next week” then tried to pressure me into ordering right then saying I couldn’t wait any longer to get the dress in time. I told her I’d wait for pics but I never got any.
I think any reputable dress maker would take the 45 seconds and 44 cent stamp to send swatches if I’m going to spend $800 with them.
