Hey guys. In a few weeks, two groomsmen, the groom, and the fathers will be at the same place at the same time (we all live all over the country). I thought this would be a good opportunity for them to get fitted for suit rentals and to pick the suits out.
However, the only Men’s Wearhouse is 2 hours away.
Also, we will be in a different state than the state we’re getting married in, so local shops are out.
How can I get them fitted for suits and also select the suits from a faraway location?

If there’s a Jos. A Banks in the area, try them. They have locations all over and the groomsmen can go to their local to be fitted then pick up their order when they arrive for the wedding.

Just looked: they’re 99 miles away…
Do you think if I take their measurements myself (with some help from Google), pick out the suits and accessories online, I could just send this info to MW and have them reserve the suits?
Edit: I’ll take them to a seamstress then. If I send the info to MW, can they still take the reservation? Should I pick out the suits and accessories online and risk possibly not liking them the day of the wedding?

A seamstress or tailor would likely be more accurate.

my guys got suits at mr formal.. two are out of town. so i had all the guys send measurements to me and i took them to the shop ordered them, they called the guys for the credit card numbers over phone, and when the suits are ready they will text us so they will be picked up the week of the wedding and make sure it fits.

You can do measurements yourself but a tailor might be more accurate.

You can also check out Macy’s, JcPenney & other department stores for suits. That’s where our guys purchased theirs and it was cheaper then renting one from MW.

@MrsWilson2012: Oh snap, that’s a really good idea. I’ll look into that, thanks!

@MrsWilson2012: I second this, our guys got their suits at jc penny’s, 3 pieces for 130 bucks and they get to keep them, for jcp I thought they were perfectly nice. They had a lot of colors to choose from and come in separates in a large range of sizes, including “big and tall”

@gizzy123: This is what we’re using. The place I got my dress is a retailer for them, and they have a HUGE selection of suits and tuxes. The only tuxes we liked at MW were $200 to rent–no thanks. Our GMs are all over the place, so we’re just going to have them measured and send the measurements in. We did that for a wedding that Fiance was in, as well–we got a measurements sheet, I did the measurements (I have experience), and we faxed it to them.

We’re using Jim’s Formalwear too. All the guys just got measured close to home and called the shop to order it over the phone. Then when they are all here for the wedding, they will pick them up. Fiance picked out top of the line stuff and I think the total was around $150.
