I know this sounds like a goofy question, but for those of you that are having your girls order their Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses online, where are you having them get measured? I’m assuming a local dress shop won’t measure and just give the numbers to you, that they’ll keep the numbers for themselves "for when you come in and order from them". Am I right?

I gave my bridesmaid a little pictorial chart of where and how to measure. I had a relative (her mom) help her out and it worked out perfectly fine. She was in Hong Kong and I was in San Francisco ordering the dresses so imagine my stress level when I worried that it wouldn’t fit when it came (and by then it would be too late to reorder).

Everytime I’ve been a bridesmaid, I’ve had to call in my measurements because I’ve lived too far away to have them done at the shop. I did my own once with the help of a friend, but other times I’ve gotten measured by a local seamstress (not at a bridal shop) who does alterations. I’ve never been charged for the service, but I gave a tip to thank her for her time.

I just went into a random bridal shop and asked to measured and the lady did it and gave me my measurements on a card that I could call in.
