Our rings all came from Golden Nugget, so I have no other recommendations!  Enjoy!

My husband’s friend used to work there, so we got a little bit of a hookup. I have no idea how MUCH of a hookup (just for the e-ring, we paid full sticker price for wedding bands).  They’re the Ol’ G of jeweler’s row, pretty classic. They’re busy because theyre good!

My ring is from Golden Nugget and I’m about to go get the diamond swapped again for the 2nd time.  I upgraded in clarity and color last time (1 month after getting ring – Fiance didn’t see visible inclusions) but this diamond is yellower than the last.

Took the ring to my local jeweler with the certification and they said the EGL international certification is not as good as EGL USA certification and that it’s possible that the color grading is several shades off.  So my “F” color is probably more like an I or a J.  It’s really, really yellow.

My jeweler told me to do my research online about EGL USA vs EGS Int’l and go back and demand an F color ring.  So we’ll see.

I don’t really like how you have to haggle with them at Golden Nugget.  They did offer a significant discount on his ring as well as my wedding band (they have to custom make it since they custom made my ring) but I’m not just not thrilled with them.

Here is my supposed “F” color ring.  The halo diamonds are a G color and the diamond is clearly yellower than them.  When I got the 2nd diamond it looked yellow but honestly I didn’t know what I was looking at — all I wanted to do was remove the black dots… oh well.

We worked with Michael.  He’s a cool guy and is the one who actually designed it, but I don’t really feel like going back right this moment to get this dealt with, considering we JUST payed $800 to upgrade the stone (after we haggled with them) and we aren’t going to pay more to do it again.

Per my local jeweler I would ask for an EGL USA cert or don’t get the ring from them… my $.02 as my local jeweler didn’t even really think my ring was worthy of the VVS2 rating either.  πŸ™

I LOVE this ring and feel bad that my Fiance feels bad about the whole thing.  We’ll get this sorted through soon enough though!!

Here are a couple more pics:

Best of luck!

My engagement ring is from Safian and Rudolph on Jewelers row. My fiance had a good experience working with them. We wanted an oval center stone, which jewelers don’t tend to keep in stock and if they do, they’re smaller stones. They brought some in especially for him and he was able to choose from 3 of similar weights and see them outside in natural light. I wasn’t there for any of this but it seems to be solid service. Also, he got a discount for paying cash so if you’re able to do that it’s a way to save.

We initally looked together at Desumma & Wexler. I thought they were great too and Michael (I think) explained everything to us. He even looked on bluenile with us to see that their prices were better.

Got my ring from Golden Nugget. My finace said they were great! We had to get it resized and everyone we dealt with there were so very acommendating and nice!

I would make sure your fiance does some research on specs of color and how much they go for. My finace did alot of research and got a good deal because he pretty much knew everything about the diamonds when they pulled them out to show him so they couldnt get one over on him.

Good luck πŸ™‚
