I’m getting married in Cabo and I have 2 choices for hair and make up. I can either stay at the resort and use their hair and make up people $210 for me and $110 for my Maid/Matron of Honor. OR I can travel to a near by salon (5-10 minutes) by cab to a very well known bridal salon $190 for me and $90 for my Maid/Matron of Honor. I will list the pros and cons for both and you guys can help me decide!
Resort Spa:
-On location, don’t have to travel on wedding day…can just relax and get ready
– DOES NOT accept US dollars (US credit cards, but no US cash, only pesos which can not be exchanged at the resort…so dumb)
– They have so-so reviews, I have heard they are hit or miss with hair and make up…I’m not THAT picky and will come prepared with pics but I have long thick hair (getting an up do)
– higher price ($320)
-unknown on how good their english is…i can only assume it’s good??
Off location bridal salon:
– Off location, would have to take a cab there and back through Mexico on my wedding day…
– AMAZING work and reviews
– lower price ($280)
– accepts US dollars and credit cards
– speaks fluent english
– can not come to resort without paying $300 outside vendor fee

I don’t think 5-10 minute cab ride is a big deal. I just recently did a hair and makeup trial I thought was going to be great and ended up being a disaster. After that experience I’d be more concerned about guaranteeing that the person will know what they are doing. Ideally getting ready on site is nicer, but I don’t think it’ll be that big a deal, you don’t want to deal with the stress of hating your look the day of.

The way you’ve laid out the pros of each it seems to me like you’re leaning towards the off-site salon, so do that!
I personally would stay on-site… But for me, keeping things very low-key and stress free is a major focus. I wouldn’t want to be sitting at a salon waiting for a cab to get back to the hotel and finish getting ready… I just want to get ready in one place with my girls around me, drinking mimosas lol. I’m also not picky, so I didn’t spend too much time shopping for a traveling stylist.

If your offsite is Suzanne Morel then do it!!! I don’t think the short cab ride will be a big deal and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about her salon.
