Mahtab in Orange County (http://www.weddingalterations.com/) gets a lot of good feedback on the knot.  If your alterations are simple, I recommend Amy at Alteration Express on La Cienega near the Beverly Center.  She added a bustle and altered the neckline of my dress for $100!

I used Rosa at Luba’s Tailoring near the Beverly Center, after a friend’s recommendation. She did a great job. I had fairly significant alterations, taking it up at the waist to hide a tear in the lace, adding crioline, which was more difficult because my dress was very delicate hand stitched lace. She charged $425 I think. She also has connections to inexpensive dress cleaning ($100, I think). I did a lot of research on Yelp as well.

Whatever you do, DO NOT go to Uniquely Yours in Northridge!

When I took my dress to get an alterations quote, Carmela started cutting the dress!  I told her to be careful of the pin holding loose beads, and she pulled it out, scattering the loose beads on the carpet.  She wouldn’t pick up the beads, so they are now lost.  I had to tell her FOUR TIMES to stop walking on the dress with her dirty sneakers.  And after all that, she charged me $10 for the “work” she did.  When I pointed out all the things she did wrong, she just kept repeating, “It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter.” Someone who has that attitude about wedding dresses shouldn’t  be in the business!

I went with Renee from In Stitches with Renee Alterations in Woodland Hills.  She is very thorough and very honest with her opinion on what looks best for you and your dress.  She’s also very fair priced.  Let’s just say, she saved my 2 wedding dresses from near disaster! hahaha She mostly does wedding stuff so she really knows what she’s doing 🙂 Good luck!
