If you are “several days late” for your period, a pregnancy test would be more than accurate. Go to the store, take a test and have your answer 🙂

if your period is several days late… you should be able to test. What day did you ovulate?

Oh…..you’re right that information really foes change things. If you ovulated just 2 days prior to when you thought your period would be, then you aren’t truly “late” because you have to allow some time for the luteal phase. But I am also thrown off when you said you have 16 day cycles – I honestly didn’t know a cycle could be that short. But I am sure you’very spoken to your doctor about it.

I see from your previous thread that you were diagnosed with PCOS? If this is the case, it’s going to be really hard to pinpoint your ovulation with just a sonogram. You’d need blood work as well. Both my GYN and RE (fertility doctor) say women with PCOS cannot rely on BBT and OPKs because of our hormones. It’s not uncommon for women with PCOS to start having more and more irregular cycles. For a while I thought I was finally regulating (I too have PCOS) and my RE said I wasn’t ovulating on my own. The stress alone of TTC can cause the cycle to be off. I would just take a breather, try not to go crazy over this site or any other fertility sites you may be on and wait a week and see if AF arrives or not. I’ve been in your shoes and know exactly how crazy it can drive you. Try to distract yourself with anything other than babies/TTC!

good luck!

6 dpo is way too early. Your period isn’t due yet, the time from ovulation to period is usually around 14 days. Periods aren’t late, it’s actually generally the ovulation that is late. I would test on 9 dpo the earliest. I have gotten a clear, although faint, bfp at that point and according to countdown to pregnancy it’s a little bit more likely to get a bfp then than not to get one (and to be pregnant). If you want to play it safe, wait until 12-14 dpo.

Wait 10ish days from whenever you ovulated and then test. I don’t think your period can be “due” 6 days after ovulation, because that wouldnt even really be enough time for anything to implant, and your body would have no way of knowing it was pregnant before your period. Perhaps you ovulated later than usual this cycle. I have never heard of a luteal phase being only 6 days. Do you know how long your luteal phase normally is?
