Hoping the hive can help! We are so overwhelmed looking for a honeymoon destination. We want a lot of beach time for sure, but to be able to venture into markets, shops and local restaurants. It feels so hard to research destinations and get a feel for if it’s touristy (which we don’t want), etc. We don’t care much for watersports and don’t want all-inclusive but we want luxury. We also need somewhere LGBT-friendly as we are a same-sex couple. Any ideas are appreciated!!

We also had a hard time finding a place to honeymoon! Tampa Bay area has lots of beaches and quaint little towns with shops and stuff. It even has a state park called Honeymoon Island! There are some really fancy hotels there too. Sarasota (not sure if they still classify as Tampa Bay though) has a Ritz Carlton, and there is a Vinoy Renaissance Resort in St Petersburg. Tampa itself has some cool hotels and stuff too since you’d probably fly into that airport.

I’d look at Fiji!
They have hotels at all price points, and are super LGBT friendly.
Realistically, if you don’t stay on the main island there won’t be quite as much local markets, but you can split it up and do a few days in Nadi (where you’ll fly into), which has the temple and markets, and then the rest of the time on your island. Many of the resorts have reputations for being very authentic instead of touristy.

Some of the 5 towns are more touristy than others, but our favorite stop on our honeymoon was the Cinque Terre in Northwest Italy. We spent 5 days there and could’ve stayed longer.
I booked our rooms kind of late (used airBnb and it was great) so we ended up having to stay in a couple of the towns. Corniglia was wonderful and Monterosso was alright. Manarola looked like it would’be been a good town to stay in, too.
There are rock beaches in two of the towns and a coarse sand one in the most touristy. So many awesome restaurants with fresh from the sea seafood. It’s such a gorgeous area and there’s lots of wonderful hiking, if that allures.
