I voted for San Francisco, never been but I’ve always wanted to go 🙂

I voted for San Fran because it’s a really fun city and there is a lot to do, but I’ve never been to the other cities so take that for what it’s worth.

We did San Francisco right before our second anniversary. It was our big summer vacation trip. It’s gorgeous in September/October with the weather.

I’ve been to 2 of the 3 although the west coast 2 most recently last summer. I heard lots of good sutff about Sedona but was really disapointed. It is IMO very touristy. The natural beauty is impressive and maybe a hike would have changed my mind but we were essentially passing through as part of a greater road trip so we only had a day and no time for hiking.

I loved San Fran and there is so much to do there. We drove down the coast and stayed somewhere near Carmel (I forget what city as I just kept refering to Carmel) This would be my pick.

ME in October is fall and I would rather go there in the summer. However, PPs are right, you should have nice foliage at this time. I have never been to Bar Harbor but would recommend vacationing in several other ME towns. I noticed there is a Hilton in Bangor which is just ove an hour away but not on teh water. If you do go to ME, I would suggest renting a car and hitting up a different town each day. Portland is cute as is Boothbay Harbor. I love that New England has so many of these small coastal towns that still have unique cafes and shops and so much charm.

Since you are outdoorsy and a photographer go to Sedona, it is very photogenic. To be honest I never went on the pink jeep tours or any of the excursions when I lived there.  They seem to be really popular but unnecessary. Hiking up Bell Rock is a lot of fun, takes about 30 mins and the view is amazing up at top!

Bar Harbor would be a lot of fun too, but I think you might like it better in the summer months. The fall foliage is pretty, but being that you’re from VA I assume you have seen it before?

Napa Valley, the Redwoods and Monterey are all really scenic places in the San Fran area. There is actually a mini redwood forest in San Fran called Muir Woods.

Sedona, for sure! I think AZ is just amazingly beautiful.

San Francisco interests me the most out of all those places especially since you can also drive to other places like Napa Valley and what not if you wanted to.

We just booked our anniversary trip to Maine, and it is gorgeous that time of year. Given your options, though, I would totally pick Sedona! I’ve always wanted to go there.

If you go San Francisco, I’d stay at the Hilton over on O’Farrell Street or the one in the Financial District. They’re both quite lovely. The one on Fishermans Wharf is kind of “meh” and not up to the usual Hilton standards (and it actually might be a Doubletree but either way… Meh) plus the neighborhood is a bit manky.
