sciencefig :  Is there someone you trust that can hold on to it for you? Do you have any purses or backpacks of your own that are in the closet that don’t get used often you could hide it in?

ETA my now husband apparently had my ring in one of his coat jackets just hanging near our front door for a few weeks till he moved it, obviously I don’t wear his jackets out so maybe something “in plain sight”

My fiance hid the ring in our headboard. I didn’t even think to look there because I totally forgot it has a secret compartment. I don’t think he really cared if I found it, he ended up showing to me before he proposed to make sure I liked it while he still had a chance to return it.

In the zipper part of your handbag? I a tampax box? In a make- up toiletries bag? Toe of one of your shoes or boots?

My fiance hid mine in his work bag. I never go in there as I have no reason to.

sciencefig :  Oh, that definitely makes it trickier!

Cut a whole in the bottom of your side of the mattress and shove it in there… if you’re ok with that lol.

Well that makes things more complicated, clothes are out ☺️

Are there foods in your cupboard that only you like? I love oatmeal but he doesn’t touch it so it would be safe there. Also I am the one to cook pasta as he always ends up making Chinese style noodles if he’s in that mood so it would also be safe in the penne.

In a similar vein do you split the housework? I vacuum and dust and Fi does the dishes. If I put it in the bin with those products he wouldn’t find it.

Could you lock it up at a desk at work?

Good Luck

My Friend hid his in the vegetable drawer in the fridge because his girlfriend didn’t cook much and doesn’t care for vegetables. Take it out of the box, put it in a bag or envelope and tape it to the underside of your dresser or another piece of furniture. Do you have a closet rod or curtain rod that is hollow and has an end cap? Take it down and pop the ring inside and then put the rod back.

How long are you planning to wait before proposing?

Ask a trusted friend to hold onto it?  Depending on your job, is there anywhere at your workplace you could keep it, like in a locked desk drawer?

Would it be within budget to rent a safety deposit box for a few months?  That might be the safest.  I have no idea what that would cost, but at least there’s no risk of the ring accidentally getting throw away (unlike an empty cereal box!).

You know you have to post a photo here (once it arrives), right?

My fiance hid it at the very bottom of the sock drawer, even though I do our laundry and regularly go in that drawer to put things away. It was only there for a couple days, but apparently he was worrying the whole week!

How long until you propose? I would be nervous about hiding something expensive/sentimental in a location that you are not regularly (i.e. outside my own home). I also recommend food boxes he doesn’t like, or if you can find a really dated/worn piece of clothing maybe you can hide it in there.
