Since you have a January wedding, why not take it even further south into South America? It’ll be summer there, after all. The beaches of Brazil and Uruguay are supposed to be amazing! Hotels in Motevideo, Uruguay (a very safe, euro-style capital city) run $100 or so a night for many on hotels.com. I’m pretty sure we’ll be hitting one of those in February 2014!

Also, if you don’t need warm-water beaches, Peru and Chile are filled with beautiful land, delicious food, and Peru has very favorable exchange rates. Good luck!

@AlinaW:  not sure how far you want to travel but the pavillions in Phuket Thailand are amazing ! Completely private pool villas some with amazing ocean views! They are totally made for privacy! We went a few years ago and it was amazing place for romance and just spending time together! And there breakfast is wonderful!

they also have one in Bali I have never been there but have heard the Phuket location in better

@AlinaW:  I see you are fairly new to WBee… so a BIG Welcome Aboard

You said…

Well the wedding is in March but all of those sound like good ideas I will defintely do some research thank you!!! 🙂

ArtDecoDC:  assumed your Wedding is in January… because that is what is marked beside your user name where your Wedding Date is listed … (January 13, 2015)

You can adjust that info on your Profile Page, it certainly would make things less confusing for those who are replying to your posts, now and in the future as you countdown to your Wedding.

As for where to go…

The Caribbean is HUGE… there are more than 7,000 islands… something for everyone.  And with that sort of budget I’m sure you can find something truly AMAZING and somewhere you haven’t been before

A lot tho will come down to what kind of vibe you might be looking for (every island has their own)

My short list would be…

Barbados – Antigua – and ANYWHERE in the British Virgin Islands.

There are some really nice “exclusive” resorts in all 3 of these countries.

Each country’s Official Tourism Websites might give you some inspriration.

And with your sort of budget, I might even be researching a Charter Sailboat or Yacht vacation (either alone or as part of an organized tour).  That in my mind would be the ultimate Winter Caribbean Vacation … top of the list, once I win the lottery !!

Just think about where you have ALWAYS wanted to go and make it happen. THis is the one chance as newlyweds before you get bogged down by finances and babies.

I asked Fiance this and he had no opinion. I said Italy (already been there), Greece or the French Polynesian. Greece doesn’t interest Fiance so the polynesian won! Its gonna cost a fortune but i dont care. I want to have the trip to die for and then think about babies.

So excited.

TO @Swizzle:  nothing wrong with that theory.  Because after the babies come along, travelling gets more difficult, and more costly (be that bringing the kids along, or finding care for them)

Most couples finding they can only squeeze in an “us” vacation once in a blue-moon on a milestone anniversary (5, 10, 15, 20 etc) until the kids are off to Uni…

Since you are coming from FL and have a substantial budget, I would look at doing Paris and Rome. March is not peak tourist season and it will certainly be colder than FL but if you don’t want a beach, you could enjoy a serious lux European trip. Both Paris and Rome have a lot of nice hotels and restaurants. A splurge will be about $400 per night so you will have plenty of oyur budget left for food. Another alternative would be a safari in South africa or somewhere similar. I was planning a safari and there you will easily need to budget 500-1000 per night. With such a budget, I would do something more exciting/exotic than the carribean but I do ejnoy the carribean as well.

You should totally go to Santorini Greece! Or maybe Fiji?? I would go there if I had that budget..haha, but we decided to stick w/ a Sandals resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I would DEFINITELY stick with something all inclusive though, no matter where you go.
