MsGinkgo:  there are so many great ideas from pp.  it’s amazing how much there is to actually do in this area.

landon hall is supposed to be quite nice (don’t worry, it’s not really IN cambridge; just outside)

taking the train somewhere would be fun.  i’ve taken the train to quebec city and to montreal on separate occasions.  i took the via 1 (first class) to montreal and it was a real treat.  i preferred montreal over quebec city.

fairmont chateau montebello is a great suggestion by

My first thought was niagara on the lake, but i see a few ladies have already covered that one :p

what about grand bend? Thats where were going. His family has a condo right on the beach theyre letting us use for a week. Its an adorable little town… Slightly rambunctious is the summer, but has a very (VERY) healthy night life, and a stunning beach. Theres also a national park where you can rent bikes, go kayaking/canoeing/water biking.

Or what about the thousand islands up by kingston? you can rent a houseboat and go around to all the little islands. Most are national parks where you can dock and explore. theres the most adorable is,and called heart island with a mansion on it that a gentleman built for his wife,a nd just as he was finishing she passed away and he never went back. Its absolutely stunning and has a lot of loving touches. Fi wanted to get married there.

MsGinkgo:   You could always check out Hockley Valley Resort. I have never stayed there myself but I know that the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. It is pretty quiet and not in a major city or anything. There are hiking trails, golf course, spa, small town shops and stuff. Depending on what kind of things you are into it might be worth a look.
