I second a lot of the ideas mentioned above.  Definitely check out Ecola State Park!  One of the best views of the beach around.  And while Cannon Beach is nice, I actually suggest Manzanita because it is less crowded and more beautiful (in my opinion).  Please take the historic Columbia River Highway!  That way you can see Multnomah Falls and the Vista House and so much beautiful scenary.

In terms of new suggestions, I would add the Rose Gardens to your list for Portland, although they won’t be as impressive that time of year.  If you make it into the city, check out the waterfront.  Tourist-y but fun things include the Saturday Market and Voodoo Doughnuts.

I grew up in Washington and if you have time, I suggest you make it out to the Olympic Peninsula.  You can see the temperate rain forest, take lots of great hikes to falls, and see some fantastic beaches (check out Hole-in-the-Wall for great tidepools!).  And if you are a Twilight fan, visit my hometown of Forks.  😉

I love the Oregon Coast. My wife and I recently stayed in Lincoln City at the Beachfront Manor (Starish Manor Property). It was literally right on the beach and beautiful and romantic. I very much recommend the Oregon Coast, not to mention the coastal drive is nice as well. Here is a link of some of the pics we took. We went in May. http://www.c2photography.com/blog/?p=1161

We are renting a house at Sunriver Resorts, which is near Bend. Really looking forward to it!
