Vatche U113 – 6 prongs and very low set! I think it would look nice with that band.  I tried it on with an Elsa Peretti curved band in Tiffany and it looked great.

Blue Nile’s low dome comfort fit with a 6 prong head! I had it before switching to my current setting, it sits right on the finger. Very comfortable and beautiful ring. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s a shot of the ring from their site. This one is a four prong but you can request a six prong basket for no extra charge. Keep in mind, this ring is so low that with a six prong basket no wedding band will sit against it.

litebrite249:  Mine is pretty low set I feel. The cathedral really helps it feel more secure, and I havent had any issues with bumping or snagging. I had mine custom made because having a band sit flush was important to me and it was something I always wanted to do ๐Ÿ˜€

Here it is with a band:

litebrite249: Sure wish I had a pic of that ring from when I had it! It is a GORGEOUS ring and very comfortable, I would say even more comfortable than the setting I ultimately settled on. I didn’t notice the basket or feel that it was uncomfortable at all. I don’t think the wedding band you like will sit flush but it wouldn’t hurt to order it and try it! You can return the ring within 30 days if you don’t like it. I exchanged and changed things so many times and Blue Nile was amazing, helpful and patient. ๐Ÿ™‚

litebrite249: Actually, now that I’m looking at that wedding band again, maybe it will work. ๐Ÿค” Hmmm…

If you are going to have a solitaire with no shoulders (or cathedral), the setting can only be as low as the shape of the diamond will allow. The diamond is essentially sitting on top of the band inside prongs.  The PP’s ring with the cathedral setting (which is utterly gorgeous, btw), is one of the lowest I’ve seen in that style.  Personally, my prongs were getting caught on things and I scratched my son twice..My ring is at the jewelers getting re-set into a bezel setting. Prongs and I apparently don’t mix.
