In college, I bought one of those huge hand chair things, in BRIGHT green.
Now, I am trying to get a more sophisticated place with my Fiance set up. Must I get rid of the hand chair? lol I know its sounds silly, but its kinda neat to have. The only thing is, we have this whole French theme we are going for, and I don’t know how a gigantic hand fits in anywhere anymore!
Should we paint it? We don’t have a porch to put it on either….
Should I sell it on ebay and go buy a nice new chair?

Oh…I feel your pain. When I moved in with my husband, I had to get rid of a few things that I loved. I had 2 Wassily chairs that were beat up and not even worth repairing. But they were super cool. I had to let them go even though it broke my heart. I said one day I’d get nicer ones that match our decor.
If you really want to keep it, I’d paint it white so it’s looks clean and modern – almost like it would fit in with the decor at the Standard Hotel or the Mondrian.
Post pics if you decide to keep it!

the whole place doesn’t have to be perfect does it? we have nice decor most places but the office has the ugly comfy couch and all the things we love that don’t go. It’s actually my favorite room.

I would paint it…Maybe black with a silver Eiffel tower or maybe with the word "Paris" on the wrist or something.
If the Fiance is against it though, well we all have to say goodbye to something we love dearly at somepoint, and look at it as an opportunity to buy something together!

Ooooh, I like the painting suggestions! No, the Fiance is completely open to me doing whatever I want. I’m just wondering if it actually goes… it sounds like it could if I paint the eiffel tower on it, or the word "Paris."
All I need to do now is figure out how to paint plastic!

They make spray paint that adheres well to polymers (plastics). Just use a mask (get it from Home Depot!) have plenty of ventilation, and don’t spray too much in the same place (you’ll get drip marks). You’ll need probably a couple of coats to go from green to white, but in the end it’ll be worth the effort.

Oh thank you! I’m excited to try this out.
I think it will probably be white.

Paint it and then make a lacy slipcover for it. Like a delicate French glove. Talk about Ooo, La, La! ;o)

It would be really modern if you painted it all in white…depends are you doing a mod French theme or a French country theme???
