Live in Morris County.. getting married in a barn in PA this July, but cannot find anywhere around here that has any type of groomswear for this type of wedding.
Wanting my fiance and his groomsmen to wear light gray suit pants, vests, and possibly a couple of them to wear suspenders and newsboy hats. No tuxes, no suit jackets, nothing extremely formal. All of the places we have gone so far do not understand our concept, and no one has anything that we are looking for.
Anyone know of anywhere to go? I know plenty of people are having barn weddings nowadays, I just wish I knew where they were shopping for the groomswear… looking for colorback vests, suspenders, vintage formal, anything along these lines.. anyone know anywhere good??

Have you tried any consignment shops? Or how about David’s Formal Wear in Springfield?

@ashjm16: I’d like to have a barn wedding too! How will you be handling the decor? Are you DIYing?
Consignment shops might be a place to start – bet you can find some great stuff, though your groomsmen might not all be wearing identical things. I think that it would look fun to have a bit of variety though.
You might end up picking up different pieces at several different stores…I’m thinking that even a trip to a regular old department store/mall might be a good idea, since they have a range of things from casual to formal. If you’re not looking for formal, I’d stay away from all those wedding/formal wear places.
A good place to post your question might be in the general Dress boards here (http://boards.weddingbee.com/board/dress#axzz2UmTVchIu ), so that you’re not just limited to replies from people in and around North/Central Jersey. Bet there are a lot of barn weddings outside of good ol’ Jersey!

@ashjm16: actually, take a look at Mens Wearhouse, too. It’s mostly formal, but they seem to have some casual stuff. http://www.menswearhouse.com
Also, just googled “newsboy hats” and found these, pretty reasonably priced, at sierra trading post http://www.sierratradingpost.com/mens-newsboy-hats~d~4894/

JCP its affordable, and has different sizes all the time…. if you are budget minded you could start there…. I don’t know if they’ll ship your pants though that’s kMart

We’re having this problem, too.
FI really wants to wear a suit, but it’s hard to find aplce that rents them out. Our groomsmen are pretty spread out across the state, too; so that makes things a little more difficult in terms of coordniating.
I’ve actually thought of only ordering tux pants and a vest for the groomsman through Men’s Warehouse. I haven’t looked into it too much – their not MY groomsmen, I’m not going to pick out what they wear!
The other thing I’ve thought of is getting a list of sizes for the GMs, and picking up suits at a big outlet mall (i.e. Woodbury Common) or something. That’s not really something I’m totally in favor of, though.
I’m heard of some people assigning a certain style pants and clothes (in your case, a vest) from a store – say J.Crew or Express – and having their groomsmen go out and buy it.
Have you looked into smaller shops in the area? Sometimes a mom-and-pop store will rent SUITS, and they’ll be more open to renting pieces instead of a more expensive set.
