Have you tried any consignment shops? Or how about David’s Formal Wear in Springfield?

@ashjm16:  I’d like to have a barn wedding too! How will you be handling the decor? Are you DIYing?

Consignment shops might be a place to start – bet you can find some great stuff, though your groomsmen might not all be wearing identical things. I think that it would look fun to have a bit of variety though.

You might end up picking up different pieces at several different stores…I’m thinking that even a trip to a regular old department store/mall might be a good idea, since they have a range of things from casual to formal. If you’re not looking for formal, I’d stay away from all those wedding/formal wear places.

A good place to post your question might be in the general Dress boards here (http://boards.weddingbee.com/board/dress#axzz2UmTVchIu ), so that you’re not just limited to replies from people in and around North/Central Jersey. Bet there are a lot of barn weddings outside of good ol’ Jersey!

We’re having this problem, too.

FI really wants to wear a suit, but it’s hard to find aplce that rents them out. Our groomsmen are pretty spread out across the state, too; so that makes things a little more difficult in terms of coordniating.

I’ve actually thought of only ordering tux pants and a vest for the groomsman through Men’s Warehouse. I haven’t looked into it too much – their not MY groomsmen, I’m not going to pick out what they wear!
The other thing I’ve thought of is getting a list of sizes for the GMs, and picking up suits at a big outlet mall (i.e. Woodbury Common) or something. That’s not really something I’m totally in favor of, though.

I’m heard of some people assigning a certain style pants and clothes (in your case, a vest) from a store – say J.Crew or Express – and having their groomsmen go out and buy it.

Have you looked into smaller shops in the area? Sometimes a mom-and-pop store will rent SUITS, and they’ll be more open to renting pieces instead of a more expensive set.
