I just got engaged last week, I haven’t even started planning yet but I’m already having a meltdown! We are getting married in April, I want to DIY basically everything. I don’t even know where to start. Any tips or awesome checklists???? Kinda freaking out here! Plus all of my bridesmaids and MOD live 500 miles away

First, figure out what your budget it.

Couple of things to help you get started:
1-Creat a budget! You can’t do much until you know what you’re working with
2-Work out a guest list… all of the vendors ( including photographers) want to know how many people in order to get you a price
3- Start thinking of what you absoultely KNOW that you want and then seek those things out first. For example: I knew I wanted an outdoor wedding in the Spring, so venue was top of the list… once you know your venue, you’re able to fill in the blanks of everything else sooo much easier! If you know for a fact there is a certain theme or element you must have, seek that out.
4- Relax! Plenty of brides have their bridal parties spread all over, that is what make WB, FB , email and just about every other social media outlet so cool… you can share ideas with people, email pictures to your BMs ( that is what I am doing.. I am 10 hours away from every.single.one of my bridesmaids!)
5- Don’t over extend yourself with DIY projects! I am doing a lot, and a lot of other Bees are, too… just be sure you take time to enjoy the process and not loathe the glue gun!

Then I guess I’m doing okay lol, we already have a budget, tentative venue (my mom is going out to look at it again on Saturday), nearly settled on our engagment photographer. We know what we want as far as colors, music and decorations.
Thank you guys for the quick responses! Before last Friday it seemed like “Oh 6 months is a long time!” after I got the ring it feels like no time at all! I think I’m just in a little bit of shock!

@SunnyBunny:Ive totally had 2 meltdowns, absolute meltdowns about the wedding. Im much better now! best way to cut your budget is to cut your guest list! do you know anyone within close proximity to you (geographically) that has just gotten married withen the past year? or about to? I asked EVERYONE who did you use how much did you pay? etc!

@SunnyBunny: You sound like you’re right on track. One thing that should be nailed down soon though is the guest list, because that can have a huge affect on other areas of your budget. Plus, you’ll have people asking you right away when the wedding is or telling you how excited they are, etc, so knowing whether to share a ‘we can’t wait to see you’ or a ‘we’re having a small wedding’ will be best for your sanity.
