french quarter is your best bet. if you’re driving, just be aware that parking will be a bit on the expensive side.

I stayed at the Sheraton New Orleans and it was a nice hotel and not right in the middle of the French Quarter, but a short distance away.

The French Quarter hotels are similar enough to each other that your best bet is probably to go on hotels.com or priceline.com and find the best combination of price / star level for you.  You can also get slightly cheaper prices if you stay in the “CBD”, which is adjacent to the French Quarter – though you want to be as close to Canal as you can get.

One other thing to look out for in New Orleans hotels – a couple of them (like the International House) have ‘windowless rooms’, and others have a window that only opens onto the interior of the hotel – so it’s a good idea to confirm the room type before you book!

We loved the Le Meridian! It wasn’t *technically* in the French Quarter, but we walked EVERYWHERE and it was a wonderful experience!

Depends on what you’re looking for. The Roosevelt is beautiful. technically the CBD but right across canal is the French Quarter. Much quieter than staying FQ. There’s the Hilton Garden Inn – Convention Center too. Walking distance to the Quarter and Harrah’s but not in it so less noise.

NOLABride2015:  +1 to this. I lived in NOLA for three years, and this is pretty much what I do when I go back and visit. The quarter is full of hotels.

mrsgttobe:  We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson – it says its located in the FQ but it wasn’t – but it was close enough to it and far away enough where you didn’t hear the loud noise at night. But if you don’t mind loud noise, than maybe you want to find something right in the center of   the FQ

Also, I wanted to recomend Hotel Monteleone, it has a really cool Causel bar!!!!!
