We stayed in Rome but it was definitely not a 4 or 5 star hotel. More of a 3 star bed and breakfast!

Here’s the link if you have any interest: http://www.lacasadiamy.com/

It is also a 5 minute walk from the train station which is SUPER convenient.

Oh wow – we stayed at this amazing hotel, about a minutes walk from the Pantheon, 5 minutes from the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps and 25 minutes to Vatican City and the Colloseum. We stayed at one near the train station when we first arrived in Rome, but found it to be a long way from everything and didnt really have the atmosphere because we felt a bit unsafe. This location is excellent and next door to parliament and the BEST gelato shop!

I wouldnt book direct through the website, i would go via Expedia, we got it for around 185 Euro’s per night, including breakfast. Our room actually looked out over St Peter’s Basillica! Amazing!

So jealous you are going to Rome for your honeymoon! It is wonderful! Be sure to just wander the city, we discovered so many old churches or cafe’s that had been there for much longer than our country has been civilised for! (Australia is very young!).

Quick tips:

– Buy your vatican museum tickets online before you go, its cheaper and more importantly you dont have to wait in line (the line is over 2km long by 9am every day!)

– The “tour guides” outside colloseum and Vatican museum are asking more than the ticket price, you can haggle with them to get it lower and they were actually pretty good, but make sure you get an English speaking guide (we had a really good New York woman for Vatican!). It is actually worth it, we learnt so much and got so much more out of our trip than we would have just going through by ourselves!

– Gelato, gelato, gelato – try as many flavours as you can – its freaking amazing! I put on like 5kg in 3 weeks! (11lbs)!

Have a great time!
