We are going to San Diego Fri 24-26 (golfing at Torrey Pines on Saturday so we’ll be in the SD/La Jolla area) Can anyone recommend a nice hotel to stay at? I’ve been looking and can’t decide. Some are too expensive, but others are just the right price but the parking fees are outrageous ($36/day…really?!) I have looked at the gaslamp area but am afraid it’ll be too busy. I also don’t want a cheapy rundown place. I did like the Manchester Grand Hyatt but with the parking fee’s it comes out to around $500, and I’m sure I could find a better deal. I would like to stay near or around the beach, I did look at hotel circ but some just looked too rundown/old/outdated.
Can any locals or anyone whose stayed there give me suggestions/reviews with the hotel name….I would SOO appreciate it!
Thank you soo much for even taking the time to read this/help me 🙂

I stayed at the Embussy suites in La Jolla, I dont remember the exact rates, but I was like 18 and Fiance was 21 so it had to be reasonable lol! But this was a few years ago, but our stay was great, we are actually using the embussy suites in our area for our wedding night bc our experience was so great there!

Hmm well our favorite is the Marriott in the Gaslamp District and we didn’t have any issues with traffic (foot or car). It was walking distance to everything and I don’t remember the parking fees being too ridiculous.

I’ve stayed at the Lowes Coronado Hotel, but that was many years ago, and I don’t know if it is still there or maybe has been rebranded under a new company. The Hotel Del Coronado is also an amazing place, although I have only visited the hotel and dined there, not stayed as a guest. There also is a beautiful, pink hotel overlooking the beach in La Jolla, but I cannot remember the name.

@Brielle: You;re thinking of the La Valencia. It is beautiful.
Parking is usually an arm & a leg at most of the big hotels. Sadly, there just really isn’t any way around it.
Lowes Coronado Bay Resort is still there and is really pretty. The Hotel del Coronado is nice too. The Gaslamp isn’t too crowded and the Manchester Grand Hyatt is beautiful as well. The Omni is also in the Gaslamp is cool and overloos the baseball stadium which is pretty cool.
If you are looking for more a a boutique type hotel, The Hotel Salomar (run by Kimpton hotels) is really cool. Se is a newer hotel in the Gaslamp. Both of these hotels have cool bars in them where plenty of locals hang out.
Hope that helps
