I helps we live in Las Vegas and married here. We forwent home and had the media suite at Mandalay Bay. The wedding weekend the husband won a few thousand at Craps and the $2400 room bill was comped. Totally worth it. It is such a special weekend, a hotel would be a lovely treat. Besides, you could always have an after party in the lobby or a massage and romantic dinner the day before the wedding or brunch with the visiting inlas the day after.

I think it all depends what time you plan on leaving your wedding and if you have any reason to be up early the next day. If your logistics are like mine in that you wouldnt get to the hotel until after midnight and then needed to be up early then I would agree that a hotel would be a waste of money. If you are free the next morning then that might sway me!

We’re going to go back home (and we already live together). But then we’re both homebodies, lol.

torontobride28:  We have a block at a hotel downtown Toronto, they will comp our room if our guests have 10 bookings in total. The time of year will factor in greatly. If its during peak tourism season/filmfest etc costs are inflated.

We have 2 nights booked at a downtown hotel, but we might cancel them if we decide to go back home. The venue is a 15 minute walk from our house. but it would be nice to stay in a hotel for the wedding nite! Of course, we haven’t figured out things like what we a re going to do with the dog and cats…

We live about 45 minutes drive from our venue and will be staying the night there (they offer accommodation). We never intended to return home – if our venue didn’t offer accommodation, we would have stayed at a little B&B or something.

A friend of mine recently got married right on the outskirts of the city where we live. She and her new husband travelled into the city for the night of their wedding and the night after – it was about an hours drive from their home.

Definitely stay in a hotel! Fiance and I are getting married abut 20 mins from our apartment but we are going to splurge on a luxury hotel so we can continue celebrating our marriage!
