I’m not planning on buying a fancy/designer dress for my wedding. My budget is going to be $400 or less. I am definitely looking at buying something online but obviously I want to try something on in real life first.
I want to try on some dresses just to get an idea of what shapes/styles look good on me. I don’t want ANY pressure to buy something that day and I don’t want to get steered towards big poofy ballgowns. I’d be just as happy to buy a bridesmaid or any ‘formal’ dress in white or ivory.
I tried going to Macy’s today and they had NOTHING… one tiny section of prom dresses and their “formal” section had hardly any long dresses.
(If it matters, I’m currently a size 16 and the dresses I like online seem to be fit and flare or A-line mostly, with a short train or no train at all.)
Can I go to David’s Bridal just to look or do I need an appointment? I feel like any “bridal” store is going to push me towards $1000+ dresses I have no interest in. I’m not ready to buy anything yet – all I want to do is put an actual dress on my body to see how it looks…
