Fiance and I are planning a last-minute vacation after having to cancel a pre-planned vacation. We have no idea where to go! We were recently in Santa Monica, which we love, but since we’ve already been there we’re trying to think of somewhere else to go. We thought maybe the Caribbean but it’s hurricane season so that doesn’t sound like a great idea. Thoughts? I’ve never really had to come up with a vacation idea from scratch because I usually think them up in advance and this recent cancellation was totally unexpected. We each have vacation time left and it seems silly not to use it, but we don’t want to do a staycation. We live in a big city so would like to go somewhere that is relaxing with a slower pace.
Also want to add that he’s vegan so we don’t want to go somewhere where that will be an issue (he’s been on some group trips with friends/family where it was virtually impossible so he ended up eating dairy, but much prefers to avoid it).

New England or Eastern Canada — get some amazing scenery! Wherever you go, you’ll find fall festivals, apple picking, pumpkin patches, etc. I’m from Massachusetts, so biased for there, but Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont are absolutely stunning, and they’re all witihn a couple hours drive, if you want to check out a bunch of places!

We vacationed in the Dominican and in Mexico this time of year, October/ November. With both we had one raining day, all the more reason to stay in the room all day… But other than that the weather was great. You don’t have to exclude it for the hurricane season. You could go to Vegas, San Francisco, florida keys, orlando, you have so many options

I’ve done a vacation in Colorado in the fall. We went hiking in the mountains and it was beautiful! It was one of the most relaxing and breath taking trips I’ve been on.

Aruba is below the hurricane belt so that is an option if you want to do tropical. We went last year in October for our honeymoon and had perfect weather the whole week. This year we will be in Mexico for our one year anniversary.

I’m visiting Colorado for a short trip next month. I’m going to visit my brother’s family. They have a huge log-cabin kinda home in the mountains and it’s gorgeous! Then I’ll spend my last day or two checking out Denver before I fly home. I’m looking forward to chilly weather, sweaters, and hopefully some snow! And more than anything, seeing my amazing nieces 😀

What about a seeing the fall colors? someone mentioned NE but the Midwest is also beautiful and cheaper. Get a cabin on a lake, bundle up in sweaters, grab a mug of hot cider and enjoy the show!
