I’ve been doing some clean-up lately, and wondered where to store things like the deed to our house, insurance documents, wedding certificate, appraisals etc?
Right now it’s all in a hanging file folder, with copies of our bills, but i’m wondering where you guys keep all that kinda stuff – do you buy a little safe? A suitcase under the bed?

We have a file drawer in our office that has separate hanging folders (labeled) for our different categories of important documents.

I’ve no clue. I give them to Fiance, he files them away somewhere. We just moved so I couldn’t even tell you what box or room they’re in for that matter.
Note to self: Find documents hiding place.

In our safe. Actually, in double-safes! We originally just had a little fireproof lock-box we kept them in, but then we bought a gun safe, so now the fireproof box is inside the gun safe.

Everything of importance (that’s not used on a daily basis) is in our fire proof safe.

We have a safety deposit box at our local bank that we both have access to. It includes the deed to our house and condo, our marriage license, our passports and our life insurance policies.

I keep mine in a fild folder right now but we really really need to buy a safe.

We have 2 safes…one lock and key and the other has a number lock. The number lock one is heavy duty and Darling Husband has it bolted to our basement staircase…I’m too scared to look under there. We keep the larger items: checkbooks, other jewelry, hard drive, etc in the number lock safe. The smaller one is hidden in our office and we have our important papers in there and it’s our “grab and go” safe. DH is paranoid about those things.
I’m actually in the process of digitizing ALL paperwork. All the non-important stuff will get shredded after scanning but I’m gonna make copies of the important paperwork and store on the hard drive that gets put in the bigger safe. Oh and we do have 2 hard drives in case one fails.

We have hanging file folders but we keep the most important stuff in the fire box.

No special place, everything is all over the place. No organization in this household!

Really important stuff like wedding certificate, birth certificates, passports, etc… are in a fire proof safe in our basement.

Fireproof safe for super important stuff. The rest in a file cabinet.
