I am taking students on a travel-abroad trip in June 2014, and as a new group leader, I am eligible to go on a free training tour before that trip. I’m a little torn about where to choose, and only one of the trip dates have been released already (Paris, this July 24-28). I spent a week in Paris back in 2006, and it was incredible, so I don’t know if I should go somewhere else just to experience a new place?
Three other options that are commonly offered are Rome (Sistine Chapel, Colosseum, etc), Beijing (Summer Palace, Great Wall of China, etc.), and Berlin (Checkpoint Charlie Museum, Potsdam, etc.). I just don’t know when those trips would be offered.
What do you think, bees? Any experiences in those other three cities??

@E_Lynne615: I’ve always wanted to go to Rome! I set up a holiday to travel there a few years back, but my passport was stolen en route, so we had to go back home! I’ve always said I wouldn’t go back just because of the “bad luck” tied to it, but I sure as heck would go if it was paid for! Rome!

Oh my gosh, I couldn’t choose. Maybe whichever one would be the most expensive to do on your own? hah. Then you could always go to the others some other point in your life.
They’d all be amazing though. I don’t think you can go wrong!

I spent a day in Rome last year, and really want to go back, so I vote for that.

@E_Lynne615: Rome! Try something new but not crazy different if you’re not quite up to it. Rome is in Europe and will be similar to Paris in some ways, but still different. Do it!

Rome is in the lead for now! I think it would definitely be incredible, but the Great Wall of China is probably an amazing place to see too!
@bowsergirl: I know, I don’t know how to choose.. good idea to figure out which would be most expensive! 🙂
@babybee92: Stolen passport? Ugh!!! That sucks.. 🙁

@Mrs.babycat: What was your favorite part? I am leaning that way…. but Paris is just so gorgeous too, ack!! I’m so torn!
@SapphireSun: Just a day? Was it torture having to leave? Where else did you go in Europe?

@E_Lynne615: We were on a cruise. We went to Paris for 5 days, and then flew to Barcelona for a few days and did a cruise that stopped in Nice/Monaco, Florence, Rome, Athens, Kusadasi, Mykonos and Naples. I’d love to spend more time in almost all of them (except Athens).
So, I went to Rome and didn’t even get to see the Sistine Chapel. One of those life things that MUST be rectified.

@SapphireSun: Oh, I absolutely adore Barcelona! (I lived in Spain for 4 months, and that’s where I’m taking my students!) Wow, that cruise sounds incredible… how fun!
And yes, you must go back!! 🙂

@E_Lynne615: I go to Beijing for work and while it’s a very interesting city, the air is terrible. Like asthma immediately terrible. Just a heads up.
