What about somewhere in South America? Brazil, Costa Rica, etc?

I haven’t been but in my research (hehe), the best beach destinations you could pretty much go to are the Maldives, Seychelles, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, if outside the Caribbean. I know you said you don’t want Asia but it’d be a shame to write off The Maldives because they seem so perfect, unless you want miles and miles of sand.

Go to Thailand! It has everything you could possible want: beautiful beaches, a lot if history and amazing temples, adventures such as riding elephants or sleeping in a natural park in huts on the water….As you can tell, I’m very passionate because I spend a few months planning our Thailand honeymoon, which I had to cancel because I started a new job and couldn’t get the time off. The flight is pretty pricy,but it balances off by the cheap lodging and other expenses ones you get there. Feel free to contact me with any questions

Oops, I just saw that you specifically said no Asia. Hmmm, I would suggest the amalfi coast, but you also mentioned no Europe. What are you looking to do on your honeymoon?  If yare just want to lay on a stunning beach, I wouldn’t go that far. Have you ever been to costa rica?

Counting out Asia, counts out the largest singular continent on the planet…

I agree with the other Bees, if I was able to travel anywhere for a tropical vacation then… The Maldives (Asia) would be an excellent choice.  I’ve heard mixed things about Thailand from various sources over the years… from those who have been.  Phuket is lovely… but Thailand as a whole (particularly Bankok) the heat tends to be unbearable and downright oppressive.

Fiji – Bora Bora – or Tahiti (all part of what traditionally known as the “non-Continent” Islands off of the continental region known as Australia) and now known as Australia / Oceania) are also all supposed to be amazing.  And as such they too are on my IF ONLY LIST of Travel Destinations I’d like to get to.

Hope this helps,

I had booked it through this uk company http://www.thailandtravelplan.co.uk/, although I found it cheaper to book the flight directly through the airline. Check out their website and tell me what kind of itinerary you are thinking.

What about using airline miles? Usually you can get enough bonus miles from signing up for an airline’s credit card to at least get 1-2 one way tickets to someplace like Australia. Look for a 50,000 mile bonus for AADvantage cards, and research the miles it takes. You can fly on their partner airline Quantas, based in Australia (we have done this in the past).

@crayfish:  good point.

Mr TTR and I are HUGE fans of Loyalty Cards… having earned more than our fair share of Getaways & Vacations on them.  Many companies also offer a companion Credit Card… and then you can earn miles on all the purchases you make on that Credit Card.  Something to consider.

PS… Any Canadians reading this???  Check out Air Miles Reward Miles (the Blue Card)… if you do your homework… so you know who takes the card, and exactly how it works, and use it faithfully the rewards can be dramatic !!  This card has paid the largest portion of many a vacation for us… be it the Airfare (more than once) … or a wonderful cruise.  We put our whole Honeymoon on their Credit Card… and have earned oodles of points again… plan to continue collecting for another year, and then cash in again (maybe going to Europe this time round).  NICE when you don’t have to pay the HUGE expense that airfare typically can be for a vacation.
