I love Amelia ๐Ÿ™‚ Feminine and pretty! To my ears, Sloane seems like a last name, or maybe even unisex… and Charlie sounds all boy. I think Amelia is a lovely choice.

mrsh52116 :  I voted for Amelia, but even that I’m kind of eh on. I really dislike Charlie. I don’t like “masculine” names on girls and this one in particular is kind of overused for both genders. Personally, I know two female Charlies (one spelled Charleigh) born last year and three males. I’m kind of over it. If you must go with Charlie, have you considered Charlotte as a formal alternative?

Sloane is okay, but not my favorite. I’m neutral on it, but overall, I don’t find it a very pretty name. However, if you want something a little different and not a typical cutesy/girly name, then I think this is what you’re looking for.

As for Amelia, I think it’s very, very popular and I absolutely despise the nickname Mia. I know an Amelia born last year who’s nickname is Millie and I think that’s adorable! Have you considered Emilia? Or, if you like Amelia, perhaps shortening it to Mila?

My daughter is named Amelia! She’s 19 now and loves it. She picked her own nickname, Milly, st about age 10 and it’s stuck with her. In college most of her friends call her Meels. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I LOVE Sloane!!

It was my favorite girls’ name forever! Unfortunately, it sounded horrible with our last name!

I’m very sorry but I really hate Sloane!! It makes me think of slime or sludge or something… but I feel terrible just saying that (sorry!) and other people seem to like it! Charlie is ok but I only like it as short for Charlotte. My favourite is definitely Amelia. It’s sophisticated yet cute and has lots of nickname potential – Amy, Milly, Mia, Lia…

I’m a preschool teacher and although Sloane is a lovely name, it’s gaining a LOT of popularity. There are many Sloan/Sloane’s ages 2-6 in my school. I think Amelia is lovely and not quite as popular as Sloane & Charlie.

If name popularity is not important to you then go with your gut! I’m  pregnant with boy/girl twins and naming our girl Olivia, despite it’s insane popularity. She just feels like an Olivia to me ๐Ÿ™‚

    I voted for Amelia.

IMO, Charlie is a shortened name, a nickname. And I am a firm believer that a child should be given a full name to fall back on as an adult if the wish and not be named a nickname. So I would name a girl Charlotte or Charlene and then call her Charlie for short.

Not a fan of Sloane at all. Charlie isn’t my favorite either, mainly because it reminds me of a boys name too much. I LOVE Amelia, and I’m a little sad about how popular it’s become! FI and I are considering it for a middle name if we ever have a little girl ๐Ÿ™‚

eandh0904 :  Milly is absolutely adorable! Makes me love the name Amelia even more.
