I’m almost 30 weeks pregnant (final countdown!!) with a baby girl and Darling Husband and I are fairly certain we will name our baby Amelia. However, we are seriously struggling with a middle name! We originally wanted to go with Amelia Mae, but that seems to be a very popular middle name for Amelia (along with the typical Jane and Grace that are usually paired with Amelia). We also love Elise, but that’s one of my best friend’s names and I feel a little bit silly using it 🙂

I dont like how common Amelia Mae is either, i voted Belle thats sounds pretty. Im 38 weeks pregnant still not totally decided on the middle name.

Amelia Belle or Mae. Amelia Elise is a mouthful of vowels!

I like Amelia Mae. It’s popular for a reason! I think Amelia sounds best with a one syllable middle name. What about Amelia Rose?

I’m with ClaudiaKishi : Amelia Rose is lovely.
How about Amelia Joy?

I love the combo of Amelia Mae so wouldn’t really care how common it was to be honest. Congrats bee!

I like Mae. Just sounds the best out of all of them to me. I also don’t think it matters much. Most aren’t going to know her middle name or hear her name constantly in full so I wouldn’t really worry about how popular it is.

I think it totally depends on the last name as to what sounds the best. I do like one syllable middle names, like Mae but Charlotte is pretty too!

Does it really matter how common a middle name is? The majority of people I know don’t use their middle name for anything except when asked for a middle initial on paperwork. The majority of kids when I was in elementary school had the middle name Marie or Lynn (or David or Michael for the boys) – they all lived to tell the tale. Pick what you like and what sounds good with your last name.

I think one syllable also has the best flow in general. Amelia already has 4 syllables and so a middle name that is also 4 syllables seems rather long to me.
But having said that, it would also depend on the surname. So Amelia Mae Emerson (for example) flows better to me than Amelia Elizabeth Emerson. But Amelia Mae Mann flows worse than Amelia Elizabeth Mann. To me at least!
FWIW I voted for Belle!
