I’m currently pregnant and starting to make a baby registry and I was thinking about using Amazon.com which worked well for my wedding registry… but then I thought maybe there’s something better out there? So which registry did you use/have seen used- what was good/bad about it?
Side question: best/worst item that you registered for? 🙂

We are using myregistry . com for the wedding and I plan to use it for a future baby shower too. I like that I can add from any store online.

We did Amazon and babies r us. I suggest at least one brick and mortar option for those last minute shoppers

We are just using amazon for the big things (stroller, pack and play, swing). I assume if people want to shop last minute they will buy a pack of diapers and a cute outfit at what ever baby store strikes their fancy at that moment.

We did Babies R Us but if I had it to do over I’d do Buy Buy Baby. Everyone has a 20% off Bed Bath & Beyond coupon lying around and those are good at Buy Buy Baby too. Save your family money, or get 20% more stuff, depending on how they look at it 😉
The worst thing I registered for was the turtle night light that, oh my god, kept our babies awake. We forgot to turn it on one night and they slept amazingly, so we tried turning it on the next night, crappy sleep, turned it off, they were out. I wanted to kill that freaking turtle.
Best thing was the snap-n-go double stroller, could plop the car seats right in and it didn’t weigh a ton. That stroller is pretty much the only reason I ever left the house those first few months. They make a single version too but I think you can buy single strollers with a car seat adapter built in, the double strollers usually only have one, and they weigh a million pounds, and they cost a million dollars. Don’t underestimate the value of moving your baby from car to stroller without waking her up, it’s a magical thing and would be infinitely harder if you have to take her out of the car seat.

We did babies r us and target. Almost everyone bought gifts in store 1-3 days before… And some on the day of! I noticed I got a lot of random gifts because by the time they went shopping, the online- only gifts were the only things left. That might just be my crowd though 🙂
I liked my target registry a lot, they give a generous 15% off completion coupon. It was the more popular registry, I’m assuming because of convenience!
Edited to add:
The worst thing I registered for was clothing/socks/baby bows. Nobody touched that because everyone wanted to pick their own outfits!
I was hesitant to register for big items like the crib mattress, but glad I did because the big expensive items were the first to go, and it was pretty exciting!

amazon and babies r us
i bought my furniture and a few other items from buy buy baby (btw, they accept bed bath and beyond coupons, so i was able to use the 20% off on the furniture)

We did babylist, it let us register for anything from any store centrally. It also displays prices for the same item at multiple stores so people can find the best deal. I hate registering in store and I didn’t really care about a completion discount so I was totally happy. Some of my older family members were confused but most people said they liked it.
Best things: HoMedics white noise machine, 4 moms bathtub, rock n play
Worst thing: halo bassinet – nothing wrong with it but it was so expensive and we barely used it.

I registered at Babies R Us and at Target. I agree with PP that you should register at atleast one physical “brick and mortar” store because many people buy things last minute. I think 90% of my registry wasn’t purchased until 2 days before my shower. I think amazon is a great idea though!

ooo, I like the idea of being able to use any store
Yeah, I’m a last minute shopper myself sometimes… that’s a smart idea
Oh no! Those lamps looks so cute, who knew?!? Did you have twins?

babylist sounds awesome- I hate the idea that I’m registering for something that would be way cheaper somewhere else.

We did Babies R Us and Target. I also have an amazon one, but I kept that one private and just got it for the completion discount. If I were to do it again I would probably chose target and amazon as my primaries. I have had basically no one buy off of the babies r us registry. Basically everything has been purchased off of target, and for good reason. It’s more convenient and generally prices are better. Also, many people will just buy you what they want to anyway, but I think the registry is good for giving them ideas.

I’m basically just doing Amazon.
I have a Babies R Us registry, but it just has a couple repeats of things I also registered for on Amazon. If I see that they’ve been purchased off of Amazon, I’ll remove them from the Babies R Us Registry (and vice versa).
mentioned, “I assume if people want to shop last minute they will buy a pack of diapers and a cute outfit at what ever baby store strikes their fancy at that moment.”
