I have an account at a credit union and Darling Husband has an account at 5/3. We both wanted to keep our current accounts but also wanted to have a joint account we ended up going with Bank of America a few months ago. I have only had problems with BofA since we got it and hate how everything HAS to be done with that stupid debit card.
Personally I would like another credit union just because they don’t fee the crap out of you (I’ve never recieved a fee except for overdrafting once) but we need a bank that we can use no matter where we go. Basically when we move we will not have to close our account and open a new one elsewhere.
Does anyone have a bank that you can personally go into a branch and do buisness with them without them hating on you because they actually have to do work and that you are not fee’d up the wazzoo? I would prefer if they had locations through out the US. Any feedback will be helpful.

I hate BofA and tried to close my account last time I was in the states, but they wound up making the account free… so they have my business, for now. I also use ING and BAC (a bank in central america).

I bank with Chase and when you walk into a branch they fall all over themselves trying to get you to sit down and talk to them. I hate it but it sounds like what you want.

We use USAA for our joint accounts and so far I love it. No actual branches to go into but their customevr service is absolutely amazing either by phone or online. You can use any ATM and there aren’t any fees (they’ll refund you for other banks’ non-customer ATM fees). And you can do pretty much anything online as well as deposit checks by phone.
For my separate account, I’ve used Chase for nearly a decade and haven’t had any problems that others have seemed to have. Seems like everyone’s experience can vary.

We both have our old accounts at regular banks, and our joint account at a credit union. My husband has been researching and credit unions seemed a little friendlier to us 🙂

We have USAA- love them… but they don’t have branches. The phone customer service is awesome though!

I have Bank of America. I know a lot of people don’t like them but I have never had any issues with them. I love that they have ATMs everywhere and that I can do my banking online. They even have an iPhone app!

@LGenz: I second this about Chase. I had a CD with them, and my mom has an account with them. They’re maybe a little too enthused about helping lol

I have never had an issue with BOFA… Except when I overdrafted that one time right before Christmas

My husband and I both switched from BoA to Wells Fargo about two years ago and couldn’t be happier!

My Fiance and I use Wells Fargo. We used to be with Wachovia, but we haven’t had any complaints with the switch.

I don’t really like any of the brick and mortar banks. I used to have an account with PNC when I was little and they were good but they might be completely changed now. I don’t really mind having to pick up and move backs, most of the services that you have will end up being canceled at your old location anyway so it doesn’t bother me to have to move accounts. I prefer credit unions.

We’re looking into switching banks also. We asked around and many of our friends have been switching to Ally and they’re all very happy! I also have one friend who went with ING and is very happy with them, as well.

I bank with USAA… been a memeber since I was 19. Banking, creditcards, insurance. I have another account with Navy Federal Credit Union, banking and creditcard. Love them both.
Fiance has US Bank. We are in the process of getting his money out of there.
