We met on Plenty of Fish on 2009. We actually grew up in the same city and had mutual friends, but had never met because we didn’t go to the same high school. We got married 5.5 years after we met. We thought it would come out at the wedding, but our parents still don’t know that’s how we met – LOL!

My husband was very embarrassed about telling people in the beginning so we weren’t honest with our parents. We told all of our friends eventually, but never corrected moms and dads…haha.

My boyfriend and I met on Xbox live through mutual friends.  We started playing games together and developed a really great friendship.  I ended up getting accepted to a school about an hour away from where he lived.  When I moved there we met up and ended up having a great connection and have been together for nearly 4 years now.  =)  If only our mutual friends could be as happy for us as we are.  It was a hard relationship to develop as we lost friends over it and neither of us wanted to hurt feelings, but when it is there it is there and we couldn’t deny that we had a great relationship starting.

va-in-ny:  I know! Who knew so many people were having such success on POF?! I think it gets a bad rap as being a hookup site, but as long as you’re careful, it can be a great place to meet someone.

I met my Darling Husband on OKCupid. I had been active on the site on-and-off for 3 years, met a few cool guys but we kept things casual, and Darling Husband had been active for a couple months, and hadn’t met anyone. I found his profile, liked what it said, and messaged him. We messaged back and forth for a couple weeks, then we had our first date, which lasted 8 hours, and the rest is history.

I met mine on Plenty of Fish like some of the others that already responded. We talked for about a week or two before we actually met up in person. We met in person at our local zoo  (very small and was only like $2 to get in at the time.)

I met my Fiance online over a year ago, it was 2 weeks after I signed up for OKCupid and he was the 2nd person I met IRL, I got tons of messages from really odd guys, some who seemed really shallow, some who seemed really boring. In the end my Fiance was the person that I reached out to and sent a message to. His photos were so adorable and his description was so intelligent and funny.

Our first date was the best first date ever, full of quick witted conversation, rebranding fortune cookies as “Yoda” cookies, and challenging each other to eat the donut hole deserts we got at the restaurant in a single bite. I knew he was the one within a couple weeks, he said he knew I was the one that day. We moved in together in 2 months and started discussing getting married, and 1 week ago we got engaged ๐Ÿ™‚

My story is a little crazy, but 13 years ago I met my now husband online.  We were both very young at the time, I was in my late teens and he was in his early 20s.  At the time, I was dating someone else and my ex boyfriend was receiving online tutoring for a software from abroad from my now husband.  My ex was the jealous type (one of the many reasons it did not work out), and would not give me his contact information (not his name, email, website, nada).  But I was determined to track this guy down out of sheer stubbourness and because this guy seemed pretty good at what he did.  I made a list of what my ex’s interests and decided to try chatrooms first.  This is the crazy part:  my husband is the first person that I wrote to in the first chatroom that I tried.  We immediately became friends and I didn’t even realize that he was my ex’s tutor until a few weeks out.  We were platonic friends for a few years and then we decided to try a long distance relationship.  We have now been married for almost 10 years.

I also know a few couples that met online through dating sites and they are happily married.  I guess it gives you the opportunity of a wider pool of people and it makes it easier to find someone that you connect to.

Another OKCupid couple here. I moved to be closer to my parents and help them out for a while. I had beeen using OKC where I was before but with no luck, all the guys were creepy or boring. I moved in July of 2010 and two weeks in, I switched my profile to the current city…next thing I know my Fiance messaged me. I had challaged someone to figure out my profile name (it was based of a song from my favorite band who almost no one has heard of). He knew the band and we went from there. Meeting online is common these days and no longer holds that weird factor anymore.

I did! Although, I actually met my fiance first in person when I was interviewing for a film internship. There was something super special about him even though I couldn’t put my finger on it. I was convinced we were going to date and have a great relationship. Well, he changed positions and I didn’t end up seeing him again. Fast forward 3 years later, I was single, not having much luck meeting decent guys and thought, why don’t I join Eharmony? What do I have to lose? So I signed up for I think 6 months because they had a deal on. Guess who I was matched with the first week? The guy I liked from the interview! The funny part was that Eharmony was having a glitch with their website and I couldn’t see any pictures, so all I could see was his first name, age and what he did for a living. I was pretty convinced it was him and sure enough it was! The rest as they say is history. We were written in the stars.

I met my fiance on Ok Cupid! I was 23, and I’d been out with two other guys I met on the site before we met. Our first date (and first time meeting in person) was on March 15, 2010. We connected right away, and have been together ever since ๐Ÿ™‚

Meeting online was great for me – I get really nervous on dates, so it was nice to email and chat a bit before meeting up for the first time.

My boyfriend and I met on OKC in April 2014. One day I was randomly going through the list of people online and there he was, cute as ever. I clicked on his profile just to see that he was almost 5000 miles away – I’m from Poland, he is from Atlanta, GA. I decided to message him anyway… and we never stopped talking. We planned on seeing each other in September in London, but one day he just looked for the tickets to Poland and they turned out to be waaaay cheaper. I woke up the next morning to his message: “I’m coming to see you next week!”. And he did. He visited again a couple of weeks ago. We’ve never been happier ;). We never really wanted to get married, but because of our circumstances we obviously will – and I’m actually very excited about that! I must admit I’m getting a little anxious thinking about all the visa/green card processes, but I’m sure we will get through this and even grow stronger together! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I lost a bet with a friend and had to join an online dating site. My Boyfriend or Best Friend was one of the first to contact me through the site. His profile picture made me laugh — he was wearing a wig with purple pigtails. It was refreshing to see a guy who didn’t take himself too seriously. That was over 15 months ago, and we now live together. ๐Ÿ™‚
