Just curious which name you ladies prefer. One is my pick, one is DH’s, and the other we both like and will probably end up using – no particular order 🙂
I’m adding some of my comments from below up here since there seem to be a lot of the same comments about name associations:
I know Hudson is a car/river and Holden is a character. But it’s not like his name is Chevy or Tom Sawyer, so I’m not worried about it. If anything I’m hoping those things would make people more familiar with the name and less likely to screw it up 🙂 The fact that several people have told me they know the name from Catcher in the Rye makes me feel better about it. I was worried that since it’s not very common people would think we tried to make it up, so if people are familiar with it that’s great. And we live in Texas so I doubt the Hudson river or the Australian car brand would be the first thing people here think of.

Hudson is a car…and a river…Holden is a county in Colorado….Colton is the name of all heros in the romance novels…so at least your setting that boy up to knock em dead in 20 years!

I don’t like any of them.

I’m totally over Hudson so i went for Holden.

@Mrs.D: #2 and #3 are awesome. We have a restaurant chain called Hudson’s Grille otherwise I would like that one too.
If I ever get pregnant again can I steal these names? LOL

@Nona99: exactly re: the car and river
Holden is the main character in Catcher in the Rye.

@Glasgowbound: Catcher in the Rye was my first thought when I saw Holden!

Not really crazy about any of them, but I think Holden is the best of those three.

Definitely not Holden. The other two aren’t bad…but not favorites.

My nephew is Hudson – so, I’m biased.

@MrsSanchizel: Thanks for the input!
@Jen-in-GA: You can definitely steal them! 🙂

I guess I like Colton the best- I live near the Hudson River so that’s what I think of for that name. And I didn’t like Catcher in the Rye, in part because I didn’t like a lot of the people who could relate to holden (like my ex), and I didn’t like him as a character- too whiny. That ruined Holden for me

They all sound like last names, but I dislike Colton the least and chose that one…
