megshrop :  I can’t see any pic of the Jenny Yoo dress but I wouldn’t be a happy camper if you asked me to wear the Vera Wang. The bodice is unflattering and the ruffles on the skirt are dated.

    I suggest you keep looking.

Dress #1 all the way. The top on #2 seems awkward and unflattering.

megshrop :  honestly, i dont think either the dresses are particularly flattering silhouettes on the ladies in the picture (who are presumably your bridesmaids?). i’d find a different dress altogether – or pick a color and have the ladies choose their own dress.

Your wedding dress isn’t showing up.  Not that I think it matters.  They don’t have to match.  As long as it isn’t wildly different formality (i.e. you’re getting married in a short white sundress and your bridesmaids are wearing long gowns).

I think you need to ask your bridesmaids.  I personally dislike the Vera Wang dress.  I think it would be horribly unflattering on my body type personally and it doesn’t look like it’s doing your friends any favors either, but I definitely do not like the $270 price tag of the other one and for that matter don’t think the Jenny Yoo dress is all that great or flattering in the photo either (definitely moreso than the Vera Wang, but it’s not $270 nice).  Does $270 fit into their budget?  Do they like the dress?  Or are you paying for the dresses?  How do they feel about them?

ETA:  The friend who appears to be in both photos is fairly broad-shouldered, which means spaghetti straps emphasizes that and is less flattering.  Are there any variations on straps or the tops that can be switched to work with their different body types?

Are those your BMs in those photos? Honestly I don’t think either dress is flattering, but dress #2 is the least flattering.

Honestly, at this point I’d keep looking! Your wedding is over a year away so it’s not like you’re on a time crunch.

I’m going to go against the grain and say I hate everything about both of them. I’m sorry, bee. Neither are flattering, the off-the-shoulder one just falls weirdly and awkwardly, and the ruffles on the second one … lolwhat?

But if they love them, feel comfortable in them, and aren’t afraid to shell out for them ($270 – yikes!) then I’d let them pick either and just keep the color the same.

Having seen the Jenny Yoo now, I would still keep looking. Jenny Yoo has some gorgeous dresses, but that dress is not flattering at all.

Your bridesmaids may have chosen these two because they are limited to “bridesmaids” dresses.

Give them a color swatch, length and possibly fabric and let them find their own dresses, sending you a pic before they make a purchase.

Have you looked at Asos and TFNC?
