We did a modified french with mine so that I could show off my buttons as well 🙂 Maybe this pic will help? Your train looks long and heavy like mine, so I would make sure you get something sturdy!

@X0JLYNN03:  Lol why yes it is, can you tell I’m a super professional seamstress?  I like the french bustle (under) but why can’t they tuck it under so that it’s at the floorline?  Does that make sense?  Probably not… lol

Like bustle one but bring the fold line down to floor length.

I like both on your dress 🙂  But just to show you, mine was very similar and I chose this (I guess it might fall in the French modified):

For my dress I ended up picking the French bustle (option 1) because it preserved the line of the dress rather than making it look bulky and the weight of the fabric was more spaced out rather than pulling at a central point.

I love French bustles! I think they make the dress gorgeous when bustled…the way it ripples (that’s not a good word but I’ve been drinking wine and can’t think of a better one!) I think French looks great on your dress!

While I like number 1 more… number 2 looks easier to put up. I had a bustle like number 1 and no one could figure it out so it never got bustled right that night =(

Bad picture, and I’m not hooked/zipped up all the way. But I really like my bustle and it shows the buttons, too, when it is fluffed out a bit better.

@mchitt329:  What you are trying to describe is a ballroom bustle.

@X0JLYNN03:  I like the look of 1 (French) best. 2 looks unfinished. I was going to ask the same question about my dress, but yours has similar train features as mine – chapel length with buttons (which I love) all the way to the tail end.

All, the only thing is that mine is lace. Does that change the look or opinion? Also, I read it’s best to bustle the satin (under layer) & the lace separately. Any help?

I don’t like French mostly because I don’t like pick-ups on a dress and a french bustle reminds me of that…which I think can look odd on a dress that the front does not have pick-ups (personal opinion). I don’t hate it and don’t think it’s “ugly” it’s just not my preference.
