@Crabbabs: She seems really fixed on fondant. I guess it’s what she’s used to working with so I’ll let her do it her way and just peal that top layer of fondant off. LOL it’s buttercream underneath so it tastes find once the fondant is gone… that stuff is just so much like rubber!
thank you so much! I love to know how people feel about them compared to the other cakes I posted too so that’s really good to hear and it’s definitely the way I’m leaning.

Oh my goodness, both are amazing. I think that since your topper is quite intricate, that the simplicity of the second cake in post number one would tie it all together perfectly. And your color palette is totally drool worthy.

It sounds like you have a lot going on at your reception already. I would keep the cake simple so that it doesn’t get lost in all the rest of the colors and decorations and flowers, etc. I voted for cake 2 for that reason…I’m kinda in love with it…

Wow I got a ton of votes! I ended up ordering cake 2 last night. My caterer told me it’ll cost $450 (my original- cake #1) was $510 so I’m saving $60!
