My fiance and I are having a destination wedding and fell in love with a venue before setting the date. We’re going to be setting the date based on what’s available during the year we want to get married. Although we’re aiming for time of year, we decided the venue was more important than the date. So which came first for you, the venue or the date?

Venue! We needed to get married in our favorite place and we’re working arround that

@Cappugcino: Venue, but the whole month was open when we were booking so I got to pick the date too 🙂

Our date came first because my Pastor only had October 13th available for the whole month. Even though we started venue hunting right after the date was set which was 11 months out we had a hard time finding an available venue.

For our DW–we nailed the date(s) down first. We had a list of top three and since we booked 19 months in advance, were pretty sure we’d get it–Once we had the date we book then nail down the venue.

Actually it was kind of a combination. We had a date first, just because it helped us get more info from venues, but we could have chosen anothr one – we settled on our day because it seemed to be the best for family.

We knew what month, and which 2 weekends of the month would work. When both were open at the venue, we just picked the more convenient of the two!

We booked early enough that we got to choose our date first, and then venue.

Venue. Then they had two dates available for the month we wanted, and I picked the lesser of the two evils.

We had an idea of when, but we let the venue pick the closest date to that time period. It’s a bit later then what I wanted, but we were lucky to get in period.

The date! We’re having the wedding in a field at my parent’s house so we got to choose any date (:

We chose the date first, but not a specific date. We knew we wanted Labor Day weekend. So we looked at venues that had indoor/outdoor options. The Sunday was already taken so we selected the Saturday.

The venue for sure–our date had no significance, and we hadn’t really been planning on winter wedding. We wanted to get married at our venue because I used to work there and it was pretty much free, so we were at their mercy! We worked off of their availability.

We were aiming for March or April, so we only looked at venues that had opening left in one of those. When we found our venue they had 2 weekends in April open. My sister had a friend getting married on one and she really wanted to go to that wedding, so we chose the other 🙂 Also it turned out the one was Easter weekend, so I was glad we didn’t choose that.
