I’d go with the Canon since it looks a lot more portable which would be the purpose of the point and shoot.  I feel like if I were going to carry that Nikon around, I might as well take the DSLR.  (And I’ve always been a Canon fan)

Agree with the other posters…

Really except for the fact that they are both called “point & shoot” essentially you are comparing Apples to Oranges… because one is way more portable than the other.

I don’t have either of these cameras…

Mr TTR and I own two tho that are similar.  He has a small compact (no bigger than a pack of cards) point & shoot from Olympus, and I have a larger Fuji camera that fits that category between the regular point & shoots and DSLRs (kind of like the Nikon you’ve shown above)

To be honest, we are very happy with both these cameras, and so far haven’t invested in a DSLR (altho we are thinking of doing so)

For the most part the cameras we have serve two very different purposes because of their size and portability.

The smaller one tends to be the one we pop into small places… like my purse, or in his golf bag when he’s on a golf holiday.  The mid-size one fits nicely into a daybag or knapsack when we are out and about, or on vacation.  Truthfully, neither is exceedingly heavy or awkward.

BUT I have to say that of the two, the larger mid-sized camera takes AMAZING Photos… to the point that that is part of the reason we haven’t so far purchased a true DSLR camera (and we both own regular SLR Cameras from before the Digital Age)

Hope this helps (somewhat),

Happy shopping !!
