(Closed) Which coloured gems are hard enough for daily wear?

I can’t link to the article on my iPad, but I wear three big blue topaz rings everyday, and there’s never a problem. They are tough. No scratches or chips or anything. And I am NOT delicate.

@lavenderstone:  I think most gems are hard enough to be worn regularly (i.e. 7+ on the Mohs scale).  The only type of jewelry I can think of that is truly soft would be pearls.  Of course, hardness are durability can be very different things, for instance rubber is incredibly soft yet durable.  On the other hand glass, which I think is a 6 or 7, is hard, but fragile.  In fact gold and platinum are fairly soft, but are used extensively for jewelry.
