I vote the first one. I see two inclusions in the middle right of the second one.

thepersephone:  you’re probably right.  I saw the first one and saw it. Either way they are both beautiful stones. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either way!

I agree-I like the first!!! And good choice of going with an emerald cut-you don’t see them very often, and they’re very unique. I have 3 on my e-ring (so I might be a little biased)!!

The second stone looks like it’s cut way too deep (although ideally you need ASET images to properly assess emerald cuts).  Both have very small inclusions visible in the table, but they’re so small that both stones should still appear eye clean.  The folks on the Pricescope.com forums are very helpful when picking out diamonds – they might be able to offer you some good suggestions 🙂

If youre going for an emerald cut, get the highest clarity you can afford – inclusions and other blemished are much more apparent in any steep cut

First. But you may want to check the cut on diamdb or something. The second one looks a little deep. I second the suggestion In recruiting help from the pricescope peeps!

Definitely the first one. Notice how dark the second one looks face on? It’s not returning light the way it should be. And as another posted mentioned, it’s a bit too deep for an emerald cut. Ideally, 60-68%. If you look at the dimensions, this is why the first one faces up a bit larger, even though they’re the same weight. I glanced through the rest of James Allen’s selections in this price range, and I think it’s the best they have right now.
