So I’m really OCD about things. I noticed today that the engraving on my Engagement Ring (which I just got on the 17th) faces away from me. Because my ring is pear-shaped, its direction changes the look. I asked him about it and he says he intended for it to face me. Should we ask the jeweler about changing this? I don’t want to thin the ring by grinding the engraving out and redoing it. What direction does your engraving face?

@caseytykia: You can’t see it unless you take it off right? So I don’t think it really matters. I wouldn’t risk re-doing it.

Could it be easier maybe re-setting the stone in the other direction?

do you mean inside the shank? or is the outside of your ring engraved?

@caseytykia: I think you need to let this one go. Way too complicated and risky for the ring.

Here’s the ring and an attempt at showing the engraving.

@Mars62312: Yeah, I agree. He’s been telling me the same thing. We’re looking into changing it, but if it means the ring suffers, we’re not gonna do it.

@copperbird90: I don’t think so unfortunately.

@caseytykia: There’s no direction it “should” face. It “should” face whichever way you want it to. You can’t see it when the ring is on anyway.
