I need your impartial help and advice please.
I have been dress shopping and found two dresses I love. The first I fell for was Maggie Sottero Doreen. When I tried this on I cried. I loved loved loved it and was determined to try it on again for my Maid/Matron of Honor (sis) and again for my mum who loved it the first time just to verify it was the ‘one’
SO yesterday we went to another dress shop which was NOT the first one (as that is 300 miles away) and they put me in the dress and… meh. It didn’t fit the same way and the assistant wasn’t really keen on me being sure about the one I wanted before she’d had a chance to have her say (sooo meddlesome) I tried on a few others and then she brought out Maggie Sottero Vienna. It fit like a dream which I *think* might be the reason my mum and sis are swaying towards it though they both loved the Doreen when they saw it too. AGH I can’t decide. Doreen who holds my heart but the second time around was a damp squib. Or Vienna who I love but not in the same way and I wonder whether it’s too simple.
Help! Is it dress one (which remember fits soo much better in this pic)
or dress two (not the right size but is it the right dress???)

I don’t know which one it is (it’s afternoon, and I need a coffee) but I like this one:

I tried the Vienna on when I was looking for a dress. I loved the lace and the sparkle! (but my body is not made for a fit-n-flare dress). You look amazing though! I voted for the Vienna because I’ve seen it in person, but I really don’t think you will go wrong with either one!

@Misstiptoes: The Vienna looks killer on you (look at that waist!). I see why your mum and sis like this one. BUT I also understand your hesitation, as I also thought, “it looks amazing but where’s the rest of the dress? It’s a bit simple.”
While the Doreen is grander, the fit is not as amazing on your lovely figure. So, I’m not as inclined to vote for it. BUT I think it might have to do with that awful photo angle (and the Vienna was shot from a much more flattering vantage point). I think the fit problems (esp. the bust) can be fixed with alterations and some fabulous shapewear.
To make your mum and sis happy, you cn have your seamstress take the hips in a bit to make it more of a fit-and-flare, like the Vienna. Besides, once it’s fitted, it looks pretty phenomenal (found image on Google):
So…I say Doreen! 😀

Oops, I think I voted wrong. I LOVE the top one! I voted for the Sottero and I think that’s the other one? Really hard to tell. Anyway, I think it’s gorgeous and classic and the ruching makes your waist look so slim.

Thanks bees. It’s so hard as this was the only shop to let us take pics – think its different over here in the uk – and the Doreen just wasn’t fitting the same way as the first time I tried it in a different store.
will call my first store and see whether they can get the Vienna in then go and try on JUST THOSE TWO! Can’t have any more confusing me 🙂

whoooop! Made a decision. Went to another store in the tiniest little town and the assistant was amazing and it’s the Vienna. Looked fab fab fab. She is going to add scalloped lace to the edge and make it exactly what I want. So excited 🙂
